vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Largest audience for game 2 on Versus since Wings played Hurricanes in '02. Link. I would say that the Pens fans were absolutely correct - the Wings haven't played a team like the Pens yet this year. I'm thinking (hoping?) we haven't actually played the Pens yet........ Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Ratings should rise even more with the games being on NBC and a primetime timeslot.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Absolutely great news for the league, and Wings fans. If the league continues to flourish and exceed profit projections, that means a higher salary cap.
sdogg1m 3 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Definitely good for the sport. Hopefully, a major network will pick up every game in the Stanley Cup round.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Definitely good for the sport. Hopefully, a major network will pick up every game in the Stanley Cup round. They can't. As far as I know, Versus gets the first two games of the SCF's every year until the contract expires. It was part of the initial agreement between the two sides. Winged Scooter 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) This can only be a good thing. A team full of young stars , the so called "future" of the NHL vs. the most dominant team of the past 12 years. I HATE to say but I almost hope the Pens win A game to help boost ratings a little more. I think the only way ratings could be better for the league at this point is if it were the Wings and the Rangers. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Wish we could see a city-by-city breakdown. It's good for the league no matter what, but it'd be worlds better if we knew that more people in, say, Atlanta were watching.

Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) Having a brain fart. Who calls the games on NBC? I miss Mickey Redmond and Ken Daniels... Mike Emerick, Eddie Olczyk and Pierre McGuire usually. They pretty much just trade Christine Simpson for McGuire and that is the only difference between NBC and Versus. oh... and they throw in good ole' Mike "The Shoe" Milbury for the intermission report. Waterfordwinger 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2008 They just don't seem like their into it as much a Mickey and Dan. And the ice level coverage is pretty lame. Questions just seem scripted and not very well thought out. IMO of course...

Questions just seem scripted and not very well thought out. IMO of course... We should really push to get at least Mickey Redmond to do a game, to give him a chance. I think all of America and Canada will fall in love with his friendly yet old-man curmudgeonness. Wow.....I don't even think that made sense in English. Anyways, he's got to be one of the oldest announcers in the league, they should do something to recognize it. Daniels is good, too, but he'll get his chance someday, priority goes to Mick. Has either one ever done a Finals?

Yea, that's right. The teams in the West put up more of a fight against us.. we haven't played a team like the Pens yet XD
