Okay, I'm officially sick of it

I agree, it's so annoying. All they talk about is Crosby, and the camera seems to be constantly on him between whistles. Yes he is a good player, but come on. What about all the Wings players they could be focusing on. I'm also tired of the NHL tyring to sell this new type of hockey, new players, new rules etc etc. Having watched hockey all my life, tradition has been the most important part of the game.

It's OK. Wings in 5. LETS GO RED WINGS

If only I got the CBC HD feed....

CBC hasen't been much better, honestly. The entire pre-game was effectively about how Pittsburgh was going to bounce back in this game. Even Don Cherry, who has repeatedly selected Detroit to win the series, was all Pittsburgh.

"CROSBY crosses center ice with the puck!!!".... OH BUT THEN HE LOSES IT......." WHAT A PLAY!"

Ha i actualley like the wings better getting no attention like crosby does.

I couldn't stop rolling my eyes and laughing, on CBC every time Crosby touched the puck in the Wings' zone it was "CROSBY COMING IN, WATCH OUT!" and then one of the three Wings on him nonchalantly taps the puck away and heads to the opposite zone.

The one point that I got upset with the coverage was with the Stuart giveaway that led to the first goal. The crew just kept talking about how amazing Crosby was and then proceeded to show the replay countless times. I don't know about anyone else but the way I saw it was the Stuart simply made a bad pass intended to Zetterberg and Crosby made a play that most NHL players should do took the turnover to the net and buried it granted it was a nice play and Crosby did what he was supposed to do why didn't NBC call it was it was the Pens finally capitalizing on an opportunity instead of OMGZ Sid is so amazingly fantastic.

I was upset further when Franzen's great individual effort goal got nearly no mention after the fact and replayed only once or twice.

Rant over :)

I've tried to reign in the bias comments and what have you, and I know we've had enough of it lately, but watching the pre-game and everything....it's official, even I'm sick of this.

Have they even mentioned the Wings more than once? It's been non-stop Crosby coverage. Seriously, there are TWO teams out there tonight, how about introducing the NBC audience to the amazing Wings season?

Crosby is the face of the league. They are going to pimp him as much as they can. I don't get why this is so difficult for people to either understand or accept.

You pimp your most marketable players/well-known faces to grow the game.

And I can bet that most of you want hockey to be more popular overall in this country or for people in general to at least understand it. What's a way to do that? You pimp your most marketable players. You can't have it both ways to where you want people to stop talking about Sidney Crosby AND the game gets more popular overall. Doesn't work that way.

Sidney Crosby has that tag right now.

Get used to it, it's not that torturous.

you left out the two goals he had

Really? I know alot of players who have scored 2 goals in one game.. reguardless.. you missed the point.

Anyways samuleson has the same amount of goals as the entire penguins team this series, yet we don't get a close up on his face after every commerical break.

Actually, no it isn't.

Then you have a much stronger stomach than I do. Every time I'm force-fed that Gatorade ad I have half a mind to put a foot through the TV. I'd prefer obscurity of the game to having to see his catfish face plastered everywhere imaginable. It dosen't stand a chance in hell of competing with the NBA, NFL, or MLB anyway.

I highly doubt hockey isn't going away anytime soon.

Wouldn't that make the media's chronic masturbation towards Crosby unnecessary, then?

Perhaps, but I think in any part of business there is marketing involved, and that includes promoting your products and trying to get the general public more aware to use that product, watch it, whatever else. Crosby is that main product for the NHL right now. Hence, you pimp the heck out of your main product. Simple Marketing 101.

It really is, especially when my friend who doesn't really ewatch hockey mentions the fact that crosbys name/face is mentioned just about every 5 minutes.

I watched the second period with about 9 non-hockey fans. In the words of one:

"f***. I don't like hockey to begin with. This Crosby assclown doesn't help. Change the damn channel already."

I hope you pulled out your piece after that last comment. :D

'That product' feels less and less like the NHL and more and more like the Pittsburgh Penguins. Great for them, not so great for everyone else trying to tell people that hey, there's more than one team in the NHL.

Well the main thing is to promote the main product, but isn't the main product of the NHL the Hockey teams and not an individual of one of the 30 teams out there? I think they need to promote the sport itself and not one person on one team.

I was watching ESPN this afternoon (and I don't know the guys' names because I hardly ever watch ESPN because they don't know s*** about hockey) and they were talking about how they don't even want to watch game 3 because Crosby isn't on the ice enough and he hasn't scored yet in the series. And they were trying to persuade viewers to not watch either because of the lack of Crosby. My brother and I just sat there and stared at each other.

That was Skip Balis (sp), he knows jack crap about hockey and only watched for the fighting.
