"Great save by a good, no, great goalie"

That was an awesome read!!!! Best Ozzie article I have seen in awhile.

Not Osgood. He’s treated like the Paris Hilton of the hockey set. He’s famous, but nobody seems to know why.

The quote was the best part....

Seems like Oz is finally getting his due from the sports media. I keep seeing more and more articles like this one.

Ugh, I hate Bob Duff. He's the sports columnist for the Windsor Star. He's an utter and complete tool (not saying the article isn't accurate).

I actually played roller hockey against him in a couple of pick-up games and not only was he a brutal skater but he was the biggest ass on the ice. Every goal his team scored he acted like it won the Stanley Cup. If he got the ball taken from him he'd go balasitic swinging his stick.

He's an ass-hat.

Who cares if he is a product of the system. No one says Roy, Brodeur or any other goalie that played on great teams was a product of the system. With a good year he goes all the way to the top 10 (easily) in wins. Of the top 50 in all time wins, he is #7 in GAA. If he wins cup #3 and plays a few more years and has normal Ozzie numbers, I think he will be a definate HOF candidate. No questions asked...

Osgood has come a long way. He was always what I thought to be a pretty consistent goalie. With the D the Wings have had, that is all we needed. I still remember back in 95 when he cried because he felt he let his team down. This man has passion for the game. He knew enough to go seek some help during the lockout to prevent those long soft goals and what I have seen, I have liked.

He has played the best hockey of his career this year and deserves to be recognized.

Great article. GO OSGOOD! GO WINGS!!!

People do say it about Brodeur, but I couldn't agree with you more other than that.

Newsflash to everyone:

1. Most great players play for great teams, yet the "he plays for a good team therefore he's not that good" logic never seems to be applied most of the time.

2. Being on a great team benefits non-goalies as well. I'm on record that Lidstrom is the best pure D ever, but does anyone think he'd have a closet full of Norrises and a Conn Smythe had he played for the Caps his whole career? Hell, he might for all I know, but playing for a great team certainly hasn't hurt him.

<--- Would like to see a roller hockey game played on ice! I kid... :tomato:

Only other Goalie that I've really heard the same level of criticism as Ossie is Ken Dryden (although he admits in his book, the last few years all he had to do was not lose the game for Montreal)
