Plea to Zetterberg

I love ozzy, dont get me wrong, but, honestly he hasnt had to be anything but solid in the playoffs, hes had flashes of brilliance but, hes not on the level as others goalies in the past few years that basically took the team to the SCF. I honestly think Z is the most valuable up to this point, hes our #1 scorer, hes one of the best face off men on the team, has the best +/- and personally i think hes been the best 2 way forward this playoffs. But, i wont be pissed if ozzy gets it, hes 1a for the CS to me.

The thing I never understood about that is how no-one ever said that about Belfour and Brodeur, considering the dominant D they played behind?

What really gets me is the fact that many of the people saying Osgood's stats owe primarily to the defense in front of him are the very same people who were, at the start of this series, calling the Pens' team defense much better than that of the Wings.

But anyway -- Hank, Ozzie and Nick all deserve the Conn Smythe. I think Ozzie is the frontrunner, though.

Oh good. I'm not being pessimistic. I'm just tired of the incessant Crosby love from every angle. The NHL is just banking so much on him when their are so many other good players (and not just on the Red Wings) that it makes me angry. I read the "Stanley Cup Finals preview" in Sports Illustrated and they mentioned Crosby's name over 2 dozen times. You know whose name they didn't mention. The Detroit Red Wings or a single player. They could have at least mentioned who the mighty Penguins were going to play. It's stuff like that that make me want to give up on the NHL.

I also find it quite sickening how everyone loves Crosby to such an extent. Sure he is a great player, but he is in no way comparable to Gretzky. Gretzky simply dominated everyone, he was head and shoulders above everyone else in the league at the time he was playing. Nowadays there are probably a dozen players who are atleast comparable to or better than crosby. How does this make him the next Gretzky??!?!

I'll take Ozzie over the likes of Giguere any day of the week.

He's been very, very solid and has singlehandedly kept the Wings in games on more than one occasion in these playoffs.

Dear Zetterberg,

Please tally at least 2 more points than Cindy tonight. I do not want the NHL to have any statistical reason to think that Sid the Pedophilic Mustachioed Kid has been the best player in the playoffs or, God forbid, to have any reason whatsoever to even consider him for the Conn Smythe trophy. Also, please insert Octopus into Gary Roberts by any means possible.

Thanks and enjoy the cup,

The Undersigned.

Stuart, IIRC, has more points than Crosby. Crosby is the captain of a team that has been invisible in these finals. He has not scored much. He has been a horrid leader. He does not play on the PK.

He has nothing on Zetterberg or Osgood.

Crosbaby hasn't earned it. No where near it. Zetterberg has dominated Cindy. Sadly, the league will probably hand that diver the trophy.... just because he's the 'golden boy'. Pathetic!

Zetterberg is nothing short of amazing!

Assuming the Red Wings win the cup....Crosby will not get the Conn Smythe. It's either Osgood, Zetterberg, or even make a case for Franzen.

I don't understand the "Shot" arguement one bit.

Sure he might get less shots than other goalies, but the chances that occur are dangerous and he manages to save our behind.

One should not blindly look for the number (quantitiy) of shots, but rather the quality of the chances made when those shots are made.

And Osgood has certainly saved our behind on very VERY VERY dangerous situations during these playoffs. He has been so good that I can't even remember the last time I felt panic when the other team was attacking towards our net.

For me its Zetterberg or Osgood, I am glad I'm not the one tho choose.

I'm also hoping that Henrik gets a couple of points tonight to put Cindy away!!!

Red Wings ALL the way...

Zetterberg no doubt, ozzie is good but he dont make theese phantomsaves because our defence dont let the opponent get those chances. He is good but dont outstanding, Zetterberg leads point + icetime on forward and is in the 1st pp unit and pk unit, the best allround player in the league right now.. he is outstanding.

Im from sweden and that might be why i think like i do :>

I agree with this, however, I think the tendancy is to first look at the winning goaltender to see if they are worthy. With Osgood, his has the best GAA, the best save % (for goalies that have played more than 6 games) and is tied for most shutouts with 3. Someone can argue all they want about these being team stats, which I agree for the most part, but Osgood has been great when he has need to be and it would be very difficult to argue against those stats. Without someone with a clear edge offensively (which Zetterberg does not have), it would be difficult to not award it to Osgood.

I think the fact that Zetterberg has been able to hold Crosby in check for the most part is huge, but I think that variable will fall a little lower on the list when it comes time to vote. Had Zetterberg come into the Finals and put up some big points and finished as the scoring leader, I think he would have a good chance at winning it. Like or not, I think that what it will come down to.

Well he's 2 pts from taking the lead with at least one game left, so I definitelty think it's not yet out of his grasp. Plus- Zetterberg's pk on that 5-on-3 was simply stunning and he's been widely recognized for that play.

My plea to Zetterberg is this: PLEASE SEND ME AN AUTOGRAPHED JERSEY!
