Does Downey get a ring, name on the cup?

I think had that been the case with Downey you would see your Second Jiri Slegr.

Jiri was acquired at the deadline, played 8 games for the wings in the regular season, but got to play for Fisch when he was out for the cross check.

Slegr played 1 SCF game and his name will forever be on the cup now.

I do believe other teams have used the petition and got players names on the cup, for injuries or other reasons.

Downey did more for us this year, than Slegr did in 2002. I don't believe Slegr even played a game for us other than that final game. They should have petitioned not to have Slegr's name on the Cup, even though I know that isn't allowed. :D

Yes, backup goalies do not have to step on the ice to get credit for games played. No players to really. If you are on the game sheet and simply sit on the bench, then you get credit for a game played.

That explains why Manny Legace has his name on the Cup. Can the team go back now and ask the league to remove his name?

Downey is a "big guy"? I never would of thought that. He seemed pretty average size to me for a pro athlete or even the general public. Isn't he only about 6 foot even, like 210? That's not really that big. I could be wrong about those attributes though. Acutally undersized considering the job he does.

That's big to me... i'm a staggering 5'8 165 lbs.

guys like Abdelkader, who signed a couple of days before the season ended, won't get their name on the Cup, but they will get a ring...that'd be enough for me! :)
