Not if it happens to somebody wearing red.

You got that right. Kind of sad that you are out played so badly that you have to resort to the crap you have whined about all series. Bunch of pansies. Whatever, clear the zone next time boys! Wings in 6

The Wings should have had AT LEAST 6 more power play attempts. The refs screwed (can't really say fuqed) over AGAIN.

Let's beat the bastards in s***tsburg!!!

Plus the phantom trip on Datsyuk early in the game... and the two goalie interference penalties were questionable. Maybe you call that in periods one or two, but not in overtime. I say this because, clearly tripping, punching in the back of the head, hooking, holding, and interference are not called in OT. Yet, magically, goalie interference is... even if you are forced into the goalie.

Refs didn't decide this game by any stretch of the imagination.

However, it should be noted that the first 2 OTs were the worst two periods of refeering in the entire playoffs. Even NBC said that those were absolutely outrageous calls.

I wish I could be in the referee's lockerroom after the game. I imagine it going something like this...

ref #1

"wow, that was a long one... good thing that little asian-looking guy caught our favorite team's player in the face... if there wasn't any blood, I may have drawn some criticism."

ref #2

"Haha, what are you talking about? You know the B-man has your back... we made all the right calls in his mind... so we both still have a job, duh. Haha, criticism, pfff."

Nothing "decides" the game. It's a team effort. It's not Ozzie's fault, it's not Franzen's fault... but each person on the ice plays a major role in the outcome. Tonight, the referees played a major role. They decided to put the whistles away except if a goalie was touched or blood was drawn by a stick. If they officiate the game like a real hockey game, the Wings are on the Power Play at least 3 times in OT... AT LEAST. So, did they decide it? no, but the term man-"advantage" is key. They gave the Pens the advantage... therefore, costing us major power play time and most likely the game.

Actually, they made mention quite a few times during the broadcast that Babcock kept telling his players to quit whining about the calls and play hockey.

That is fact that they did say that... BUT, I also work in the entertainment business and know that some things are said for certain reasons. Did that joker Pierre REALLY hear that??? Either way, come on, in the heat of battle, how could they not complain about the non-calls. But I'm talking about after the game... you're not going to hear the coaches or players complain. Now Pittsburgh staff on the other hand...

You are right, I am embarrassed. My new goal in life is to become an NHL coach so I can get paid to whine in press conferences like my hero Michelle Therien... then people like you won't make fun of me... waaaah.

After the game... nope Babcock's not Bowman in that regard. However, players during the game... even though I didn't like how the game was being reffed. It gets old after a while watching players complain to the refs.

it gets old watching refs blow call after call... do you want the players to accept it and go their merry way? maybe we should ask Stevie this question. I think we all know the answer.

You know...at the beginning of overtime it seemed clear that the refs weren't about call any penalties on anyone. They were just going to let them play, which would have been totally fine with me. If they're not going to call anything -whatever, cool. What reeeeeeeeally makes me upset is when they're letting people on both teams get away with blatant trips, hooks, interference, etc.. and then randomly pick one incident of a minor hook or whatever and penalize that. If you're going to let them get away with everything, fine. But you can't just pick certain times to call minor s*** and let the rest (major stuff) go. NOT COOL. It's not the only reason why we lost, but it certainly didn't help. <_<

Don't even get me started on the "goalie interferences". :ranting:
