Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 It has to be Kronwall. Everyone knew he was good, but no one thought he'd be as good as he turned out to be all season and in the playoffs. The other guys were on and off all year, while he was solid throughout the entire season. I don't think anybody doubts him now as a star defenseman. Same goes to Franzen. That's why they're not under-rated. Their rating is increasing with their greatness.
Opie 308 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Maltby? can I ask what he did that made him better than what people think he is, which would be an agitator that plays decent defense.
DatsMyWings13 4 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 I'm still sticking with hudler but I thought someone would of said Dallas Drake by now as he was much better than I expected.
Offsides 21 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Hudler...he's consistantly put on the 4th line and still puts up the numbers. IMO Hudler > Flip

umredwing11 2 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 I nominate our 2nd line d-men, Stuart and Kronner. They got in some key minutes, against great players, scored some big goals and got in huge hits. Here's to hoping that Stuart will take the pay-cut and stay in the Winged Wheel, Kronner really flourished playing alongside him.
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) Hudler by far... are third most offensivly talented forward has to play with scrubs like downey and hartigan all year and still racks up over 1/2 ppg on the 4th line. and hes a playoff monster... give Hudler franzens body we got a 35-40 goal scorer and 85 point man close second is sammuelson. puts up almost top 6 numbers with above avearge shut downa bility and people act like ******* Kopecky is better Edited June 13, 2008 by EZBAKETHAGANGSTA
awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2008 I think it has to be Kronwall. Why? I think he tends to get lost in the shuffle a little bit when you place him behind the All-Time great Nick Lidstrom, and another big name in Rafalski. These guys kind of make you forget that Kronner could probably be a number one guy for a bunch of other teams. Other nominees: Hudler (timely goals), and Draper (great energy and a faceoff beast)
Guest Crymson Report post Posted June 13, 2008 If you're referring to the finals, he scored the winner in Game 4. Early third period goal. He scored the GWG in game three against Dallas, too.
Kira 451 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 Underrated? Good question...lots of candidates. Under appreciated? That's easier. Dominik Hasek.
PaVel DaTsYuK fan13 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 Hudler. Helm also deserves some recognition for the postseason.

Millertime 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 After this thread, Hudler is no longer under-rated. He's right where he should be. In light of that, I have to say Kirk Maltby. EDIT: By the league, Zetterberg is most under-rated. Well, maybe. Darnit, you stole my joke!
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 Theres a couple that spring to my mind Franzen Drake Kronwall Downey ....Hudler I guess Franzen for me really stepped up his game to a whole new level this season, as did Kronwall especially in the playoffs. Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 Hudler...he's consistantly put on the 4th line and still puts up the numbers. IMO Hudler > Flip me too. Although I think both are great, and would love to see them in the Winged wheel for a long time
C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 Dan Cleary for his badass forechecking. One of the ultimate "doesn't show up on the scoresheet" plays is jamming someone's breakout, especially if you're shorthanded and able to kill time without even possessing the puck. Hank's great at it too obviously, but this is an "underrated" thread. I thought about giving the Lilja and/or Samuelsson answer too, both are better than they get credit for, at least on here. Especially Lilja.
