GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 Satan will ice skate in hell before I ever like or root for Columbus Well, Miroslav Satan did play for the Islanders the last few years. That organization is about as close to hell as a player can get.
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted June 21, 2008 True. I have to admit I've been liking Columbus a little more than usual after this last season. They really challenged Detroit and they're finally developing a nice core. Same goes for St. Louis. The Central is going to be really fun to watch in the coming years. Think of the battles! Kane and Toews vs. Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Ellis vs. Osgood. And....erm...young guys vs. young guys on the other teams. Yeah. I wouldnt be suprised if Chicago or Coloumbus or both step up to secure a 6-8th berth this year.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 Didn't seen this noted, but it's related to the Umberger move. Philly just got Eminger (D) from Washington.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 St. Louis is actually establishing a nice, young core. That's what everyone said about them last year.
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 Not a bad trade either way, all things considered. The problem with Columbus is, there aren't any actual hockey fans there. Those people want flash and pizazz and glitter and whatnot. Umberger is more of a hard-working, smack-the-puck-until-it-goes-in type, something that's easier to appreciate after watching the likes of Lang and Samuelsson. Columbus is bound to make the playoffs sooner or later. I wonder if that's this year. I doubt it, but we shall see.

Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 I actually said in a thread before the season ended, I expect within two years every single central team to be in contention for the playoffs. I am thinking even more so of it now.

It's actually getting a bit harder to get tickets to the games I want to go too finally. It used to be about 80% Wings fans when they were in Columbus, now it's more like 80% CBJ fans.... VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 22, 2008 Columbus has good fans, I thought. I've never heard anything bad about them, and they've got to be good fans to support a team that's a perennial failure for 10 years or whatever it is now.
