YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 http://deniksport.blesk.cz/clanek/50796/st...i-do-plzne.html Strakas going back to Europe, Jagr might move to the KHL, Shanahan might retire, Averys testing the market, and nothins doin with Roszival or Mara. Any idea what Sathers planning on doing? Thoughts? Comments? Its just crazy to me how potentially reworked this roster could be while putting a pretty good effort together this year, despite a fairly low-key defense. They're stacked at center...but not much place else..

They repeatedly stack their team and fall short of expectations, so I bet with all their good players gone they win the Cup.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 I thought Straka's agent confirmed that the signing in Europe was not yet official...?
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 I thought Straka's agent confirmed that the signing in Europe was not yet official...? From what I saw it was speculated, denied, then confirmed.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 Sounds as though Avery would like to stay in NY - however Sather wants him only for a lower rate...I'm thinking they'll come to an agreement unless another GM out there throws alot of $$$ Avery's way. The UFA market is where Sather will be shopping come July 1st; wouldn't be too surprised if the Rags are very active. Doubtful. They already low-balled Avery by about 800k last time he was up which led to arbitration and it seems theyre doing it again..

DyingAlive 27 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 As of today Straka's agent has denied any allegation stating that Straka would go back to the Czech. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3461712

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 (edited) And they were a crossbar away from losing in Mystery, Alaska. Sheesh. And to follow up on that, they then signed the town's grocery store clerk to play for one of their minor league teams! You think they're desperate or what?! SweWings 45 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 Well big surprise, rumours will run around like crazy about who will go to the Rangers... Sundin, Hossa, Campbell, my grandma...
jawbreaker 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 (edited) I don't understand Rags Management. They want to add Sundin, but they already have Gomez & Drury. Forwards C Gomez 7.357 C Drury 7.050 C Prucha 1.600 other 5 forwards with the Cap Hit around 0.600 So it's 8 forwards with the 18.880 Cap Hit Defencemen Tyutin 2.844 Backman 2.300 Girardi 1.550 Staal 0.827 4 guys take down 7.520 of money Goalies Lundqvist 6.875 Total Cap Hit 33.276 They have 23M to sign 5-6 forwards, 3 D-s and a goalie. They should try to get a guy like Campbell for 6.5-7M, plus Hossa for 7.5-8M. It's 15M for two players, that leaves 8M for everybody else. Two solid D for combined 3M. So it's 4 forwards for the 5M, two 0,5M guys, and two 1,5 - 1,7M guys. And a cheap goalie. It's seems that the Rags are in a very bad shape. They are not going to win the Cup, if Tyutin is their top D. Sundin is worth as much as Hossa, but he is C, and they have enough of that (Drury a third-line centre???). Damn it's good to be a Wing fan, 'cause they don't overpay for the players. Maybe Rags should tank it, and try to get Hedman next year...
