1998 WCF question

I was watching this video of game 6 of the 1998 WCF against Dallas:

During the handshake, Thorne and Clement spoke of waiting for Osgood to reach Belfour in the line because of "what Belfour said." Does anyone remember what Belfour had said about Osgood? I'm guessing it was about the Game 5 OT goal from center that he let in?

Who the heck knows, you could guess probably about 200 different things that were said from only seeing a handshake and murmurs from a camera without a microphone. When have we have really understood what people were telling each other during handshakes after a series conclusion. Esepcially in this instance when Belfour still had his mask on. Not worth really trying to figure it out as it could have probably been a multitude of different things he said, and it is not worth getting overblown like people did in here with the Osgood/Turco handshake.

It's a handshake, nothing more or less. A lava lamp or watching lasagna cook in a microwave is just as exciting than a handshake. Meaning that all three are pretty non-chalant or dull.

I think you may have misunderstood it. It wasn't something said in the handshake line, but rather they make it sound like some smack talk that went on through the press. No bid deal apparently, I was just wondering if it was some widely known thing at the time, because I sure as hell don't remember.

I suppose he meant what Belfour had said about Osgood before the handshake and even before the game.

I found a nice article from '98: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...755C0A96E958260

When someone asked about Dallas goalie Ed Belfour calling Osgood lucky a few days ago, Osgood replied: ''It was his way of challenging me, to get me off my game. It didn't work. Maybe he thinks I'm young. I'm 25. I don't feel young, definitely.''

Nice find, thanks. Not that it was anything big at all, I just didn't remember any incidents between the two of them. I love finding old highlight videos.

Maybe Belfour offered him $100 billion to let the Stars go to the Stanley Cup Finals instead.

Did Belfour have a grin on his face and hold his pinky/little finger up to his lips? This may explain a lot.

This might have also, at the time, explained Derian Hatcher (#2) in the grand scheme of things.
