Unlikely Rumor

Recommended Posts

You can move this if you desire because it is a trade rumor, but I just wanted to see what the general reaction to this trade would be and sometimes things go unnoticed over there.

Probably not an entirely credible source, but a source nonetheless. Supposedly the Nucks would throw out the Sedin twins and possibly Bieska (or some other defensemen) to Atlanta for Kovalchuck

Personally, I am not a huge fan of the Sedin twins so I think this would be a pretty big steal if Vancouver landed a superstar in Kovalchuck (possibly the gamebreaker they have needed for years to put them into realistic contention of anything). It amazed me to see Canucks' fans reactions at the HFboards. Many were arguing in favoring of shooting down this trade, which was a bit surprising to me. What do you think?

This would be a solid move for Vancouver. The Sedin twins are borderline first-liners while Kovalchuk is one of the best goal-scorers in the game. He's a franchise forward. The Sedin's aren't.

I would love to see this for no other reason than the excitement of great players changing teams. I love how the Sedins were picked 2nd and 3rd overall, 208 and 207 picks before a lesser known Swede named Henrik Zetterberg.

No Way ATL will ever do that...

I don't really see why not.

I know I already said I thought it would be a steal for the Nucks but I'm kind of reconsidering. Especially if a d-man like Bieska is thrown into it. Kovalchuck has already stated his displeasure with the Thrashers organization after they traded Hossa at the deadline (and I don't necessarily consider Kovalchuck a highly motivated player to start with).

The Sedins are a bit underrated and combined statistically they have produced more than Kovalchuck post-lockout (granted most of their points come from their significant other's goals). Throwing in a solid defenseman would get me past the fact that I was trading a superstar for two "above-average" players.

no one is going to want the twins because their contracts are running out and both need to be re-signed. they will only play together and it will cost like 12-14 million to sign those idiots. goddamn i hate those twins.

atlanta will never make that trade.

not even sure what thier salary is tbh but it can not be that high can it? i mean seriously? i wouldn't pay more then 6mil for both of them combined. In my mind they are overrated and should be maybe 2nd liners, if they were on the wings right now i would be hard pressed to put them on the 3rd line even, i think if it did happen it would be a great deal for the nucks

I think Detroit should try and trade for Kovalchuk...LoL..jokes jokes..

Could you imagine?? :whoa:

I love kovie but i really doubt he will fit into the famous "wings system".. he has a big ego.. but he's a damn good executioner!

That would be the dumbest move ever by atlanta  and the smartest move ever by Vancouver

Vancouver needs some spark up their and Kov would be the perfect person

Atlanta needs to get a real team what they call a team right now is more of a bunch of guys that were not good enough for the rest of the NHL

The Sedin twins are overrated, and can't carry that club, but what is the point of getting a superstar without any skilled players at all to complement him? Sure, Sedin twins for Kovalchuk would be a steal....but then there would be no good players left on Vancouver except for Luongo. It'd be a lateral move, even if Kovalchuk is better than the Sedins combined.
