redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted July 8, 2008 (edited) A week after the Blues were forced to match an offer sheet tendered to RFA Backes by Vancouver, the Blues sign Bernier, a Vancouver RFA, to an offer sheet worth 2.5mil. Do you think St. Louis is sending a message to Vancouver? I expect Vancouver to match since they just got Bernier in a trade for a 2nd and 3rd round pick. If the now lose him, they will only get one 2nd rounder from St. Louis, leaving them out one 3rd rounder for nothing in return. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=242851&...s=topStory_main Edited July 8, 2008 by redwinger4747
DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted July 8, 2008 not even sure what thier salary is tbh but it can not be that high can it? i mean seriously? i wouldn't pay more then 6mil for both of them combined. In my mind they are overrated and should be maybe 2nd liners, if they were on the wings right now i would be hard pressed to put them on the 3rd line even, i think if it did happen it would be a great deal for the nucks Canucks got owned. DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted July 8, 2008 Nevermind... I thought they actually signed him, wont the Nucks just match this?
redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted July 8, 2008 Probably, but they will probably pay more than they wanted to. I'm betting St. Louis was like "since they tried to mess with us, lets turn around and make them overpay for one of their RFA's."

T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted July 8, 2008 (edited) They'll probably match but I think the point is that it's a 1 year deal and the Canucks might have to fork out more money for him next year.... i.e. if he has a great year playing with the Sedins Edited July 8, 2008 by T-Ruff

Payback is a *****.

Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted July 9, 2008 (edited) Sucks to be Vancouver, they have a horrible team, Bernier and Backes wont help much. I almost hate them more for having such a piss-poor team and having to rely on s*** like this. Granted St. Louis is not much higher on my list. I'm glad two of the bottom teams in the West just made each other mutually worse. Edited July 9, 2008 by Earthhuman

Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted July 9, 2008 Karma But what are they supposed to do? Nobody wants to play for that team. They have virtually no offense. Not that that makes it much better. How are so many teams getting so bad in this league?
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted July 9, 2008 St. Louis matched the Backes offer sheet. In that case, I'm still glad they made each other mutually worse by having to over-pay. But I don't think they're anywhere near the cap, especially not Vancouver. "This is all Kevin Lowe's fault."
Guest Dump-N-Thump Report post Posted July 9, 2008 I'd do it again.. offer like 2.51 this time. just keep doing it to get under the nucks skin
