redwings8831 40 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 The full NHL Schedule will be announced tomorrow at 12 PM. However the Sabres announced their home opener and their three "at large" games today and the Wings are one of the teams. Thus, the one of the Wings home/home team is Buffalo. http://sabres.nhl.com/team/app/?service=pa...rticleid=368511
MississippiWing 14 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 Would any of you fine ladies or gentlemen be able to give me a ballpark idea of what kind of ticket prices I may be looking at for the Winter Classic.I know that the cheap seats and regular games at the Joe are going up to $25 this year, so would I be wise in planning to pay $40 a ticket for the Winter Classic? Guest mindfly Report post Posted July 16, 2008 (edited) First game is home against Toronto on october 9th "The Red Wings' season opens at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Oct. 9, and the team announced officially that it will play at Wrigley Field against the Blackhawks on New Year's Day. That's part of the slow leak of the season schedule that will come out in a complete version, Thursday. Also, the new-fangled schedule has the Red Wings playing every team in the Eastern Conference once and three teams in a home-and-home — Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Buffalo. That begs the question ... is all the fuss really worth it? That opening game against Toronto will be the only meeting between the two teams in the regular season. And there'll just be one Montreal game and one Rangers game. Personally, I didn't mind the old schedule (begin throwing fruit now) ... but if the league was going to change to more conference-vs-conference games, then why not make it home-and-homes against every team in the east? This is a watered-down solution. The NHL really needs to go all the way and make sure there are home-and-homes with every team." RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 The new schedule is certainly a step in the right direction. I don't understand, however, why Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Atlanta were picked as the three (?!) teams for us to play in a home-and-home. Pittsburgh? Awesome. Buffalo? Alright. Atlanta? No.

I don't understand, however, why Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Atlanta were picked as the three (?!) teams for us to play in a home-and-home. Pittsburgh? Awesome. Buffalo? Alright. Atlanta? No. It's to help the Thrashers sell tickets. Oh and BTW, the schedule should come out tomorrow, not today. I didn't like the old schedule. This new one is OK, but I'd rather see home-and-homes for every team. They don't necessarily have to be a day or two apart either. Preferably I'd rather see them at least a month apart. chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 The new schedule format is: 6 against division rivals 4 against non-division conference teams 1 against other conference 3 "extra" games So you would think with these 3 extras, we'd have Toronto, Montreal and maybe Pittsburgh. But NO, we get Pittsburgh, Buffalo and ATLANTA! WTF? why would we want to play Atlanta twice instead of Toronto. @#$$@

It obviously how they're arranging the home and home series. you know the NHL likes to screw with us, were you actually expecting things to turn out in our favour? Vladifan 680 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 Online is the key word there. I always buy NHL Center Ice via TV, which has yet to show preseason games of any team. LOVE the Center Ice package. But no preseason coverage is a disappointment . Another one is having to listen to announcers such as Anaheim's and Nashville's for away games. :noevil: :puke:

EuroTwin 240 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 We are playing each team in the East once this year, but those are the three teams we have home and homes with.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted July 16, 2008 Each team will play every team once, but there are three extra games for teams in the other conference so it's a home and home series. So in the east, we'll play 12 teams once, and 3 teams twice.
