PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted August 29, 2008 Link SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS: David Pollak recently speculated on the possibility that a trade "grew out of (Doug) Wilson’s golfing vacation in Scotland earlier this month with Detroit’s Ken Holland, Chicago’s Dale Tallon and St. Louis’s Doug Armstrong", adding "No clues at this point, Wilson said, but we could have the answer in about a week." its obvious Kenny needs to dump salary but who? gotta be a D-man Lebda? Meech? my money is on Meech but who is hurting for D-depth?

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted August 29, 2008 Honestly, if it's too a team like Chicago or San Jose, Lilja or Samuelsson makes sense, Lebda kinda if it were St Louis, but I hate trading players in the division because they always play so well against us. Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted August 30, 2008 A 4-way trade involving three division rivals? Is Eklund feeding him information now? That is probably one of the most ridiculous rumors I've seen all summer. Really, anything involving the Wings and St. Louis making a trade is bulls*** right off the bat, unless they'd be outright screwing us. Remember what the rumored asking price was for lameduck players like Bill Guerin and Jamal Mayers? Give me a break! Any trade the Wings make will likely involve teams in the East. Everyone in the West will be gunning for the Wings this year, especially our friends in the Central.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted August 30, 2008 then who smart guy? they are not going to get anything for their trade bottom line .. so it is a dump .. Since you fail to recognize the other thread where this has been discussed AT LENGTH, and the mods seem to feel that merging like topics is unneccessary today, I'll explain it. The Wings have 22 players signed who cannot be sent down without clearing waivers. They also intend to sign Kyle Quincey and Chris Chelios, who cannot be sent down without clearing waivers, and intend to carry 13 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders. With Quincey and Chelios, that would give them 24 players with 9 defensemen. Furthermore, the Wings only have $400k in available cap space BEFORE Quincey and Chelios are signed. The minimum that Q and Cheli could be signed for, together, is $950k; putting the Wings $450k over the cap and one player over the roster limit, and one defenseman over their planned roster. This means they have to drop one defenseman who makes at least $550k; this would be Lebda or Lilja. Lebda would only BARELY clear enough space. Lilja and Lebda are about equal in ability, but Lilja clears significantly more space and is much older. In simpler words: It will be Lilja.

The titles misleading, I read the article and got the impression that one of the 3 gms were talking trade with Wilson.
