I assume it's a re-sign with ducks... should be up on other websites soon.

Doesn't matter. The Ducks are no longer an elite team. 27th in the league is scoring won't get them anywhere. Selanne may help but they had him for half of last year also. And 2009-2010? The following are UFAs:

Morrison

Marchant

Neidemeier (Rob)

Pahlsson

Moen

Sutherby

May

Parros

Neidemeir (Scott)

Schneider

Bauchemin

O'Donnell

Montador

Huskins

They have to win the award for worst management of the salary cap. Way to go Burke!

Stick a fork in them - they're done.

Selanne is one of my all-time favorite players. Good for him, if he wants to play. It will just be for fun, if he goes back to the Ducks.

I feel sure no one in this forum is surprised by the way Burke has "managed" the team in Anaheim.

We  you, Kenny.

:P

Yeah, and then he'll bolt to Toronto, leaving them crippled, much like in Vancouver

Question: How could Anaheim hope to sign him when they're currently $3.235M over the cap?

Looks like Burke gets to trade from a position of weakness once again!

Well, Selanne is quite the Duck, and can swim just like them, except on much cooler (frozen to be exact) water, drawing penalties.

One more year for lifeguards to make sure Selanne doesn't break his neck doing a pike into the ice.

i remember selanne coming and going into a seperate entrance so he could avoid fans in san jose (when he was a shark). only reason i want to see him come back is to watch someone drop him on his assholes. yes both of them.

Maybe he will take 500 to play here.

The first thing I checked when I read this was when you joined this forum (June 20th), so you might be serious about that.

Looking back at all of the times I've seen a post like that, I'm wondering why our lineup isn't filled with aged hall-of-famers, and the Wings aren't $10 million under the cap.

I don't see what that poster's join date has to do with anything.

Selanne has been known to take paycuts, although not as much as, say, Paul Kariya. It would be insane for him to go 25K above the league minimum, and personally I wouldn't want his ass here anyways, as he doesn't seem to me to be the quality player (all-around figure) worthy of being on the Red Wings.

Yeah c'mon Duck Guy. This ain't DisneyLand. The Wings don't just take any washed up turd.

I dont think he is washed up yet (even though he is going bye bye next season)...23 pts in 26 games last season and 94 the season before that...

This doesn't phase me. Among other problems that the Ducks have, fans of older players always seem to forget how quick these guys go down hill. Chelios is a prime example. One year hes a Norris candidate, two years later he's not even among the top 4 on his team. Sakic is another example, well over a PPG average and 100 points one year, and then injuries abound and a sub PPG rating later. And while thats not to say Sakic is going down hill from here, its quite easy to illustrate with examples of other players. Towards the end of a hockey career, its a slippery slope. And after a short post-season and less than half a season of regular play, who knows how his production is going to go. Either way, this isn't the 40 goal, 90 point Selanne of a few years ago.
