In what has clearly been the longest shortest offseason ever I find myself thinking of the season ahead. I'm going with Hossa.

Hossa > Zette for 1 reason and 1 reason only.. Zette has back issues and we can now afford to let him rest it from time to time if he needs to..

DAAAAAA NEW GUY!!

Hossa, one simple reason, Datsyuk.

Zetterberg and Dats will be right there for points. Z will score and will also set up a lot with Franzen, Hudler, Cleary, Sammy whomever is on that line will benefit greatly from Z and Z will get a lot of points but he will get almost 50-50 (%'s not #'s) goals and assists around 85 points.

Dats will have 85 or so points as well with 65 or so assists and anywhere from 20-30 goals.

Hossa will have about 50 goals, Yes dats and Homer will help him that much, with Dats ability to control the puck and shield it away from defenders, Homers screen, Hossa will have a lot of good looks at the net.

I think the person who's stats suffer the most in the deal is Homer, he won't get as many goals on the PP because I think Babs will undoubtedly try out Z, Dats, Hossa. I mean how can he not want to try it out.

But this is all speculation, pure speculation!

I could see ZDH as a line for a good portion of the season. We lose two games in a row with Hossa and Datsyuk and Babcock will be there in no time to put the Eurotwins back together.

With that said, it is tough, because powerplay goals also play a huge factor. A lot of powerplays, we'll see D and Z matched with Hossa, and with Hossa being the elite sniper of the three, he'll be the scorer of that line. I think Zetterberg and Hossa will be closely matched in goals and this is my prediction...

1. Hossa - 50 goals

2. Zetterberg - 48 goals

The next 3 are hard, but...

3. Franzen - 38 goals

4. Datsyuk - 29 goals (but maybe up to 80 assists)

5. Holmstrom - 22 goals

The only time I can see that happening is toward the end of a game in which the Wings have the PP, are trailing and need a quick goal. Other than that, Babs is going to play two balanced PP units which will ultimately be better for the team in the long run anyway.

Then the man is very disciplined, that is like a friend handing you the keys to his Porsche and saying here you go but only drive it to move it around the on street parking. Inevitably one day, I would have to move it to a parking spot very far away only to realize it is taken and have to drive all the way back, at 150 of course!

QFT

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure we'll see that unit at some point when the Wings need a quick strike but putting all the eggs in one basket isn't necessarily going to be beneficial in the long run. I think about the playoffs and how important it is to get that second PP unit rolling and just how devastating it can be for the opposition. As fun as it would be to see that unit, I know this will end up giving the Wings more balance and lead to more scoring in the long run.

Agree 100% I just know that I personally would want to see the Havoc that PP could create and the temptation would be too great, but then again I have never coached a team to what Babs has so maybe discipline is just another way we differ, babs and I that is!

Sorry, this might be a retarded question, but what does QFT mean? I see it everywhere and never have any idea as to what it means or why people say it...

Anyone wanna shed some light?

It means "quoted for truth." Stupid internet lingo. I hate that I know that.

Ok how lucky are we, as Red Wings fans, that we can even debate this question? Z? Hoss? Pav? The hockey gods are smiling upon us.

Please. Datsyuk will get more than 100 pts with the addition of Hossa. You think he will score less? He will be our top scorer again this year. He will likely have access to Hossa on a reg. shift and Z on the pp.

I think Franzen has a chance at it. this is considering Hossa and Zetterberg go down with minor injuries and miss 20 games or so. Even without those 2 missing 20 i think Franzen will be 35+ maybe 40 goals and like 15 assists. He probably wont re-sign and hit the market for 5 to 6 mil a year.
