vangvace 12 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 I think those 2009 DRW jerseys are horrible looking. They're so bland, and they're already EXACTLY like the ones we wear only without color on the shoulders. WTF? The Wings have changed their sweater style that little since 1934. Why complain about consistency?
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 The candy-canes are stupid. Stupid stupid stupid. If a new team came out looking like that they'd be laughed off the ice. The only reason people like them is because they're old. There's nothing "awesome" about them. They don't "kick ass". They're a full frontal assault on the eyes. They're not even that all that vintage - they were worn for one year. I hope and expect that the old-style logo will accompany those old-style jerseys for the game. But they're already most of the way to perfection here - just get the logo right. THANK GOD they did not go with the candy-stripes - now we just have to hope Chicago doesn't go with their licorice-stripes and then epilepsy sufferers can watch the game in peace. Rmac111 2 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 (edited) psst. Except for the logo, it's the same pattern starting in 1934. Every sweater since has been based on this one. What? Im saying they wore the candy cane uni in 92 and the blackhawks also wore similar throwbacks that same season, Edited September 23, 2008 by Rmac111
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 I wouldn't mind seeing a tribute to the old Red/White striped sweaters with DETROIT across the front.

To quote The Dude: Well, that's, like, your opinion man. That said, I'd say the best vintage matchup for jerseys would be 1935-36. What's being rumored right now are from 1937-38. auxlepli 17 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 I think it'd be cool if the Red Wings used the Gothic D style jersey as opposed to the Old English D ones. The organization used the candy-cane Detroit one once before; so I'd like to see something different. Though the one at jerseydatebase.com is bit different than the current away jersey, it's not radically different.

DyingAlive 27 Report post Posted September 24, 2008 I would love to see either the Gothic D or the large style wheel and wing. I just bought this shirt a couple weeks ago: Maybe it's appearance on NHL shop is a sign of things to come?
superstarsingh 23 Report post Posted September 24, 2008 Those are alright, the candy cane ones are nicer!
vangvace 12 Report post Posted September 24, 2008 What? Im saying they wore the candy cane uni in 92 and the blackhawks also wore similar throwbacks that same season, Those sweaters where both used together during the the NHL's 75th aniversay season (92) and they looked great. That supposesed new design is downright awful. There is absolutely no way the Wings will introduce a new jersey for the winter classic. You know it, I know it, we all know it. A retro jersey is very much a possibility, but a new design NO WAY! /facepalm if you're going to edit you own posts. Please remember that they are part of the conversation as well. Even if you forget about it.
