SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted September 26, 2008 They're streaming all the televised pre-season games, and at one point they had some free games lined up where you could watch the first period before signing up. You might have to contact "billy" on the site to check if they're still doing this. They've had a few streaming issues, but that webmaster "billy" dude is always in the chatrooms and updating people on what work they're doing to improve the streams and enhance the site. It's definitely refreshing to see someone so hands-on in the process. Just a reminder to everyone if you end up liking the service and signing up you could always use this link... if you feel like it http://www.hockeystreams.com/register/torless I got an intro on it last night (didn't pay anything yet) and from what I've read, everybody seems more than satisfied, and in this thread as well. Like Shockwave though, I'm just worried about the legalities of it even though it is a helluva deal.

Like Shockwave though, I'm just worried about the legalities of it even though it is a helluva deal. Since the servers are in Europe I would doubt that even the FCC could do anything about shutting down this service... like the pirate stations that operate in international waters... but it's a gamble, that's for sure. They haven't been up for too long from what I can tell. I'll definitely let anyone know if there is any word of shut-down... I'm sure they will have to give a C&D order first if anything is going to happen.

Torless 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2008 I just bought it an hour ago. went back to the site and it said "This account has been suspended." Should email that "billy" dude - he'll probably fix it immediately. My guess - some sort of database error. I was just on today watching Flyers and 'Canes in the archive. wingschamps 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2008 Ok so now the site works, but none of the streams work. I don't understand computers. I watched one of the games in the archive earlier and now all Windows Media Player says is "ready", and it plays nothing.
blues_demitra38 11 Report post Posted September 30, 2008 Can you choose the home or away feed or are you stuck with what they have?
Torless 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2008 Can you choose the home or away feed or are you stuck with what they have? Personally I've only seen 1 feed per game... but it's the preseason, so I don't know how/if this will change Oct. 9th Regarding problems with the feed not playing - I've had this happen before. Just close the window, open a new one and it should work as long as you don't skip around too much in the archive. I think they were having website issues the other day, so hopefully that will be fixed. Watching Rangers vs. SC Bern right now - good feed. On a side note - has anyone else seen that hilarious Center Ice commercial with the Penguins fan? I love how they use all 5 Penguins highlights from the series and don't bother showing the end result with Malkin crying on the ice and Lidstrom lifting the Cup. BTW - Montreal and Detroit tonight @ 7:30 - first good chance to test the feed!!
wingschamps 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2008 Haha, now it brings me to a separate page that says they're doing a webserver upgrade. It says to get it to work I can either wait for who knows how long or "flush my DNS", which I tried with no luck.
wingschamps 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2008 it's all good now. it worked when i clicked the link in this thread.
Torless 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2008 FYI - they now have a PremiumHD membership available that is slightly more than the normal membership. These HD feeds (where available) will be broadcast at 640x480 and 900Kbps bit rate... They also have some HockeyStreams Radio program coming up soon and raffles for members... I don't know if anyone else has been watching - but so far the feeds are great and they've covered all the televised pre-season and Europe games. They're even covering the TSN Season preview tonight. NEpats1028 1 Report post Posted October 8, 2008 Yeah this site seems legit. Im worried though if the NHL finds this that they might try to sue for copyright violation.. I watched the tampa game in europe and its a pretty awesome feed. i'd reccommend it!
b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 I love Hockeystreams.com so far. They are really reliable, and if you have any problems or request anything, they are really helpful. Bandwidth too high to stream without buffering? Tell them and they will get you a link that you can use. Good example of just how good they are, the other day the Wings game was airing on NHL network with the FSN Detroit coverage, and they were advertising for the Red Wings season preview that was airing after the game. Of course, it was on the NHL network so as soon as the game ended, the FSN-D feed was going to be gone, I asked the admin. during the game if there was a way to stream the Red Wings season preview, and he got us the FSN-D stream and let it run through the season preview. They are that good, and cheap.

wingfan1991 221 Report post Posted October 11, 2008 signed up too! quality from archive looks great (not the HD one.. good enough for me). question; upper right corner says Today's Live Streams pretty much all games listed.. then I click on Live Stream from menu and only Leafs vs Habs game is showing.. hopefully this is just a update issue and not that the Wings game wont be live? SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted October 11, 2008 I have little doubt that it is probably a great creation, but I just went with standard NHL Center Ice just to know what I would be getting in terms of legality and the like. If for whatever reasons I have problems with that, I might throw a few dollars to watch games on this place temporarily.
