timothy1997 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) Mods, please pin this at the top. Week 1 thread Week 2 is here and here are the results. If I have made any errors, feel free to post them. The eliminated section shows who got knocked out from last week's games and the still alive section shows who is in. The bold teams to the right of your name are the teams you CANNOT pick again this year. 62 teams played this year. Not bad for year 1. Tane 17 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Pitt defeats toronto on SAT Lol, only 2 People Picked detroit in week 1?????? That's what happens when you save the good teams for the end....you bet on bad teams and don't make it till the end.

That's what happens when you save the good teams for the end....you bet on bad teams and don't make it till the end. I didnt like the matchup against Ottawa. I thought that game could have gone either way. This game really has you look at the matchup than anything else, pickin' on the bad NHL teams.

ArcticWing 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) Nice pick. I almost went with that myself. Thanks. A bit risky, but gotta try to save the best picks (teams) for later rounds. Also considered Tampa and Canes. Edited October 14, 2008 by ArcticWing

timothy1997 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Timothy, this game most certainly won't last the entire season. How about starting it over once a single member is left? already thinking of a 2nd chance game once this one is done. Just debating on if 1 or 2 picks. I guess it all depends on when this season actually ends.
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Thanks. A bit risky, but gotta try to save the best picks (teams) for later rounds. Also considered Tampa and Canes. I think its a sound pick. I went with Emonton at home vs Colorado in week 1. I don't think your pick is too risky as I always like the home team when you get two sort of iffy teams playing each other. If your the Panthers you ought to think you have a great shot at beating the Isles and being at home should be enough to put them into the win column. That's my thinking anyways. Hence why I took Tampa at home vs Minny. Minny doesn't score a ton and Tampa has been getting its butt kicked. I think Barry will have them fired up and at home they may bag 4 or 5 on a tough Minny defense.

timothy1997 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Meaning every member would have to pick two winners each weekend? yup. just speeds up the game a bit. It all depends on when this initial game ends this year. there is like 26 weekends of NHL hockey. Technically we can keep this game going all year. I knew some people would be out in week 1. I just didnt expect 45% of the participants to be out.

Week 1 is notorious for incorrect picks simply due to people not knowing how teams are going to gel together. Think about all the players that switch teams or finally make the cut. A lot of unexpected always happens in week 1.....same goes for the Weekend Picks games from Aussie. Still, watch for a good portion to drop out of contention in your game after this weekend as well and then for things to slow down a bit.

Still, watch for a good portion to drop out of contention in your game after this weekend as well and then for things to slow down a bit. I thought numbers would be around 33% out after week 1. I thought 2 games crossed my mind as good games to pick in week 1: LA & SJ and Dallas & Columbus. One was right, one was wrong. The game is fine. It's an intriguing game and it fits well with the weekend picks game.
