uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 Seeing as the Rangers are a pretty physical team and Downey remains in GR, I dont think hes ever going to be in a winged wheel again.
Proud 2 B a Wings Fan 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 Rangers may be tired coming off a 1-0 shoot out win in Toronto last night. We can hope.

uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 No cap space even if the Wings wanted to. Send down Helm, bring up Downey. What a hard solution that was For anyone who cares, Downey had a re-match with Boulerice a few minutes ago for Grand Rapids.

I'd hate to see it, but you're probably right UK. I don't agree with it, but I don't see the Wings carrying any meat all year. Looks like it's going to be all skill. I guess we'll have to leave it to Cleary to do all the protecting, not that he will, but at least he gave it a go with Pronger last year. GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 I am glad to see Meech finally get an opportunity to play. I have been advocating to get Meech in over Lebda - I would rather not see it happen at the expense of Stuart though. Hopefully Meech performs well and takes Lebda's spot on the third pairing. I like how a thread on Brad Stuart/Derek Meech turns into another Aaron Downey debate. Let it go - Downey is in Grand Rapids for a reason.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 Well, that didn't take long. Five games into the season, and we already have a top 6 forward hurt and a top 4 d-man. Let's hope there won't be any more setbacks. Other people are just going to have to step up and stop jerking around like they've been doing so far.
LadyWildcat 4 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 That's just my luck. My favorite player gets to play his first game of the season and I won't be able to watch. Hopefully Meech has a good game, and hopefully Stuart's knee is better soon.
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 Other people are just going to have to step up and stop jerking around like they've been doing so far. i.e Hudler Not that I care if he plays badly, cos hes small and useless. Like a smaller Samuelssom.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 I'm really not a fan of everyone wearing visors now. I wish Danny wouldnt, I really do. But whatever floats his boat. It's unfortunate that Stewie is hurt, but I really wanted to see Meech, and now we get to see him.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted October 18, 2008 Why would that be different than any other game there Mr. Positive? No kidding. This guy came along onto these forums when it was clear that we'd win the Cup, and now that things aren't 150% peachy he's Mr. defensive pessimism. Surprise. Guest mindfly Report post Posted October 18, 2008 Why? I can answer to that as well, it looks too much like SEL or any other european league where visor is mandatory
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 18, 2008 Why? Probably sounded bad, I'm glad that there protecting themselves, but I guess I'm just a bit old school. As long as it doesnt effect his game, I wont complain.

If they feel it doesn't affect their game and they don't fight a lot, I don't see how it's a problem, especially if it reduces the chances they'll be out of the lineup from taking a stick or puck to the face. Hehe true, that also suck, you can hardly see the logo these days.... we don't have as much money as the NHL unfortunately Edited October 18, 2008 by mindfly

Regardless of the debate, Dan Cleary was a lot better once that visor came off in the playoffs and if hes only been wearing it for a few days, it could pose a problem yet again. Cleary wasn't wearing a visor. He was wearing a chin-guard. He couldn't see the puck at his feet. That's not going to be a problem with a visor.

That's not going to be a problem with a visor. Good point. And he was coming back from a broken jaw. If he still had the chin guard on, that probably means it was still sore, which is going to affect his game and make it harder to play the physical kind of game Cleary does.
