up2here 41 Report post Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) WOOOOOO it's the spelling police,...everybody run! seriously dude, get a hobby. Chereponva isnt even close, and spelling is important in life. Decoy Jones 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2009 I'm sorry this guy died. I really am. But if the Rangers get to do this, then the Boston Celtics in 1987 should have go another draft pick becuase Len Bias died. I know it's not exactly the same but when a draft pick dies or can play anymore, that organization loses on the gamble it took with that person. Maybe the Wings should've asked for a pick when Gregerinko (spelling) got in that car accident. He didn't die but he's not the same player we drafted. Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted March 13, 2009 It's unfortunate he passed away and the Rangers lost out IMO. I don't think they should get a new one just because it broke..bad analogy I know....but there is no extended service plan on human life.....

Thank you for your advice, i'll remember that when i'm spelling russian last names late at night. If i was spelling a name i was familar with,..like datsyuk, then it woldn't have been a problem. Not many people can spell Russian names easily you just have to look them up ,at least I know that I have to.

But the rule is there that if you don't sign your 1st round pick, you get a compensatory pick (30 picks after the position that you picked the player that didn't sign) in the next draft. The Rangers didn't sign Cherepanov because they couldn't, as sad as the circumstances are.
Swayze 81 Report post Posted March 13, 2009 Ridiculous. If you're gonna be handing out compensatory picks, might as well hand one out to Calgary too.
Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2009 This is.... wow. Unbelievable. What kind of respect is that to show toward his family and friends who are grieving his loss? He's dead. Don't try and use him as a pawn in your system.
