Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 This is the hypocrisy I'm getting at - a lot of people have been saying "such and such opponent wasn't that great tonight - we made them look better." Yet we can turn that around and apply that to the Wings? With the way Anaheim played tonight, they made the Wings look better than they would have otherwise. Yeah, because I ******* said that. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 How do you know that? How do you not know that? You're nitpicking at this point, but I'll play along. The Wings had 47 shots and goal and got two goals out of it. Getzlaf, Selanne, Niedermayer, and Kunitz - all very fast skaters - were sluggish tonight. They spent little time in our zone and the majority of their shots were harmless, and they couldn't even manage 20 of them. From my vantage points, its much easier to correlate a Wings team that has played poorly lately and a Ducks team that has played incredibly well lately to their respective energy levels in correspondence to when they last played. But thats just me. I suppose you're opinion is just as valid - which is to say, neither right or wrong. Unfortunately, neither of us have any way of predicting the ouctomes of hypothetical situations.
Heaton 1 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 Nope. I'm just stating the facts that apparently aren't applicable when reversed. Hence, hypocrisy. Your message loses it's relevance when you're calling people hypocrites who never made those excuses. I hope you realize that it'll be hypocritical if you don't give the Wings the same consideration. You can't absolve one without absolving the other.
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) I think it is hilarious that hillard plays one period and gets the loss. I guess that whole thing backfired (even though Gigure was "dehydrated") Edited December 2, 2008 by Wings_Rule_1010
Guest DetroitBoy313 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 You people are str8 trippin' man, wow!!! The Ducks played bad? What about saying the Wings played good? Where is the credit to the Wings tonight for playing a hard fought game? Who gives a s*** if the Ducks played the night before, that's what these players get paid millions to do.Nobody cares! You go out and you play your opponent you have in front of you! I think when Holmstrom comes back and with Cleary back now this team is going to get right back on track.Cleary played a hell of a game tonight by the way.I officially have a man crush on Hossa.Go Wings!!! YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 Yeah, because I ******* said that. I never said you did. But your statement was an allusion to the fact that the way we played tonight had nothing to do with the way Anaheim played tonight. "The way they played tonight, absolutely." From that I can gather that you mean with the way the played tonight, they would have beaten any worthy opponent. Another way of saying that is that their play tonight was good enough to beat the play of any opponent, despite how fresh or talented the opponent was. If thats not what you meant, then I apologize for the assumed allusion..

If they played like that against a healthy Ducks squad they could have a chance to win. I'm not saying they would win automatically but they would definitely be in the game and have played better than any other game I've seen this season. I hope you realize that it'll be hypocritical if you don't give the Wings the same consideration. You can't absolve one without absolving the other. The thing is, I never said that playing the night before shouldn't be taken into account when the Wings lose. I did say that other people would be ready to make that excuse, but thats just the nature of this forum. There are some statements I don't need to make because their made here ad nauseum. Just like the Wings "domination" tonight.

But typically when I say a team dominated, I mean they would've dominated no matter the circumstances. Semantics I guess. They definitely had the energy and fire, but the errors might have come with a little more pressure, but then again thats a hypothetical as well..

Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 I was impressed with the wings work ethic today. They responded well to Babcock calling the team out, saying they weren't working hard enough.
Matt 1,049 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 Why is the fact that Anaheim played last night even a factor in the discussion tonight? Did we all forget that the Wings have played four games in six days? Including a back-to-back jaunt out to Boston? Anaheim's had 3 games in SEVEN days. Excuses about Anaheim being tired? Please. Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2008 http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=578760&page=6 I didn't watch the game, and I only read the last page, but lemme guess: The Wings were diving again (and again...)? Not all night. The Wings players have the special ability to be excellent skaters all night until an important moment, where suddenly all their strength and agility seem to evaporate. Theyve gotten good at it. They've been rewarded for it, too. Well, surprise surprise... I'm glad I spent my time teaching the future of America (irony...cause these kids are really smart, and I'm not) instead of watching the Ducks get dominated by a team of closet ice dancers Enjoy. Did we all forget that the Wings have played four games in six days? Including a back-to-back jaunt out to Boston? Anaheim's had 3 games in SEVEN days. Excuses about Anaheim being tired? Please. Because it was a factor that was taken into consideration when the Wings lost to the Ducks after back to backs? And the Ducks have had 3 games in four nights, going from Anaheim to Carolina to Detroit. But whatever.
