Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 21, 2008 Grand Rapids Griffins (16-7-3-3) @ Rochester Americans (8-20-0-2) @ The Rochester Americans may have the fewest amount of points in the league but this is a danger game for the Griffins. Rochester are on a 3 game winning streak and the Griffins are on the road to play their 4th game in 5 nights. Tonight will mark the first time Shawn Matthias is in uniform against either the Wings or their affiliate. He has recently been sent back down to the AHL and has a mere 4 points and -19 in 20 games so far this season. The Griffins need to get used to life without defenceman Jonathon Ericsson who appears destined for a long stint on the sidelines and Stafford is likely to be out too. As a result of the injuries, defenceman Brett Peterson was recalled from the ECHL however it is unlikely he will play. The line of Lemieux/McGrath/Pare has been white hot having scored 4 goals and added 9 points in their last 3 games. Possible line-up: Oulahen - Helm - Downey Leino - Abdelkader - Tardif Ritola - Emmerton - Haydar Lemieux - McGrath - Pare Kindl - Galvin Kolosov - Pyett Jozsa - Atherton Larsson Howard Team Leaders: Goals: Haydar (11), Abdelkader (10)Assists: Leino (18), Helm, Emmerton (13)Points: Leino (23), Helm (22)Penalty Minutes: Downey (52), Abdelkader (49)Notes: • With last night's shutout, Howard moved into second all-time on the Griffins shutout list. • Jakub Kindl has 6 points in 7 games and is tied for 6th in defenceman scoring. GROwl 5 Report post Posted December 22, 2008 Even though we're not even halfway through the season, Larsson seems a lot more consistent than Jimmy Howard. If he keeps it up (and works on shootouts a little more), he'll surpass Jimmy on the goalie scene.
