That would be true if the Wings were playing half assed and doing nothing but losing. They've been winning, even though it's ugly. Because of the Cup win, the bar is set so high for this team it's ridiculous. They don't just have to win, they have to dominate.

Obviously that's what we want to happen before the playoffs, but to throw a tantrum and stop watching in the first period is still pretty fair weather in my book.

There is a middle ground between winning one goal games, while giving up 3+ per. 4-1 and 4-2 games are hardly dominating, but they are reasonable expectations for a team that has 8 potential 20 goal scorers, a slew of all-stars and a couple sure-fire future Hall of Famers.

And I'm not defending those who have thrown tantrums and stopped watching - as far as I've seen in this thread, those folks are in the minority - but its incredible the amount of folks on this board who immediately jump to bashing anyone who criticizes the Wings.

as bad as the wings are playing, you are nowhere near Thrashers bad...

this is actually a refreshing game to watch, believe it or not, but anything's better than watching the thrashers lose night after night.

The difference there is that the Red Wings have better centers playing in the AHL than Atlanta has on their top line. And thats not even touching the defense or wingers.

If you want to have an intelligent conversation, I'm up for it. But if you're going to jump immediately in with the hyperbole, then its pointless. Yeah. Trade the entire team for a chance at Hedman and Tavares. Yup. Thats exactly what I said.

And any change is a difference, smart guy. Do you even remember who Lidstrom first passed the cup to after they one? Yeah...just one guy that made a "subtle difference."

Moving players that are already there is not a roster CHANGE. That's my point. Keep talking down to me, it's about all you have.

Please tell me your CHANGES. Change the organization. Go for it. Please lay out your plans.

Long time lurker here, decided to join and post. Of course this game is getting off to an awful start, but I would much rather have us play like this now than later in the season. This kind of play won't be tolerated for too long. We know the guys can step up their game when they want it, and I have confidence they will be made to want it much more often. Ships not sinking, world not ending. We have a great hockey team that needs to understand how to execute a full effort! Go Wings!

That was refreshing. Welcome aboard.

Not that I completely disagree with you (or that drake wasn't a big part of our success)...but Lidstrom handed drake the cup because it was his first.

No Kidding

We have a LONG way to go. When your best center is Todd White, you know you're in trouble.

To make matters worse, our head coach doesn't know how to play NHL hockey and our GM seems to do everything physically possible to NOT set up a foundation for the future.

I can assure you, the Atlanta Thrashers are not going to be even an NHL team for the next 3 years or so. All we have is Kovalchuk, and even he's not playing well.

- Bogosian is a possible good d-man, but one isn't going to get you anywhere. Not with the likes of Exelby or Oystrick around...
