Winter Classic Jersey

Yah I love the jerseys, I have a datsyuk one on the way, which is that much better now that he got the game winner. I wouldn't mind them being a third jersey, I totally dug the look out there yesterday.

Didn't that last-second Chicago goal mean Datsyuk's goal wasn't the GWG? It was by far the prettiest goal at least, though.

Right, and right. Rafalski's goal was the eventual game winner, though not the prettiest of the day...

I would like the Wings and any other team that got to play in a Winter Classic game to keep the throwback jerseys and when they play each other they can wear those jerseys. Since the Hawks and the Wings play 6 times a year, maybe just have the teams wear the jerseys once or twice(home and home, but will need an away version for the Hawks and a home version for the Wings)

The socks MAKE the outfit. Those candy stripes are straight out of NHL Films.

Edit: Honestly though, there is a moment during the game when I thought, god, WHY oh why does the league think that these cutesy new-age flashy vertical stripe footballer jerseys look good? The retro jerseys almost made it feel like a real hockey game again instead of "Scorers on Ice".

I'm thinking of ordering the Datsyuk Winter Classic premier jersey from NHL.com but noticed that in the picture the name is on a nameplate - is that how the replica jerseys were really manufactured for those who bought one? The jerseys worn by the Wings last week didn't have nameplates, from what I could tell. Just wondering if I should order mine elsewhere. Thanks.

screw nhl.com, go to sportsk

they have datsyuk and zetterberg jerseys pre-made for sale for only 180 dollars and they're sewn on whereas nhl.com is not, here's the link.

I got one for christmas and i LOVE it, and I would not be apposed to the Wings using it as a third if they HAD to. The only problem is that the Jersey is white based, and it would have to be an away jersey - kind of like how the leafs are forced to wear their vintage thirds on the road this year because they are white too (I am convinced they just didn't think that through before they made it, haha).

Anyways, the appeal for the third jersey comes from the home crowd. What's the use it having one that can only be worn on the road?

To my recollection, the Leafs are using their third jerseys for all original-six matchups this season - including the ones at home. All it means is that the road team wears their colored jersey for the game. I think there's a few Pacific teams who do this in division home games as well.
