Regular Season or Playoffs?

Rate this topic

So here's the deal...

I want to attend another Wings game this season (obviously!) but it will have to be at the end of the season...literally.

The last and only chance I'll have to see them play will be their last home game which is April 11th. The reason for this is because I have to travel from Toronto.

So my question is this; would it be more advisable to get tickets to this game or just wait until the playoffs? How much were playoff tickets last year and how easy was it to get them?

Thanks!

I got the lowest tier seats last year for $45USD in round one and $65 in round 3. If I were you, I would call and ask for the very top row. This is because it levels off for the last 3 rows or so, so if you get second to last or third to last, you can't see very good or stand up because there are people behind you. However, if you get the top row, you can stand and the view is great as far as I'm concerned.

I say wait for the playoffs. The last game of the season might have the wings already locked in to a seed position so a lot of the big names might not be playing. Plus, there is nothing like going to a playoff game. I tend to buy tickets to the opening post season game at the Joe every year. Playoff tickets aren't hard to come buy. If you get on ticketmaster when the sale opens you can get really good seats. I've been able to get blue line, first ten rows, on the side the wings shoot twice for the past 3 years by just buying tickets online. The lower bowl is pretty expensive at around 130 a ticket for playoffs. And the price only gets more outrageous as the playoffs progress.

The issue I have is that since I have to travel in from out of town I would like to see a game on a Saturday so I can leave Saturday morning and head home Sunday afternoon kinda thing.

If the playoffs start during the week I might be screwed. Ah well, I may just happen to come down with a 24-hour flu around mid April.

:)

Wait till playoffs... games in march and april are washouts with this team becuase they always sit people... and we are usually in the playoffs so the effort is way down.

I say go to the playoffs... YOU CAN NEVER duplicate the intensity of even a first round playoff game!!!

not to mention the pregame is off the hook for the playoff games

watch this and tell me you are fired up before a playoff game :)

then watch this and tell me if you are not thrilled with the pregame for the regular season

Invalid Video Link <--- cause they do nothing!

Thanks for all the feedback!

I'm leaning towards playoffs now it looks like. Even if it happens to start mid-week I think I'll take a couple days off work and make the pilgrimage to Detroit for the start of the playoffs. After all, at least I'll be able to gloat to my Leaf loving friends that I got to see my team at home in the playoffs! HA!

Is it too early to start organizing a pre-game party among board members? :D

I'd say the playoffs (Playoffs, Playoffs, you're taking about....PLAYOFFS?!?!) for two reasons:

1) You never know, that last regular season game could have been rendered meaningless by playoff slotting and some of the big guns could be resting.

2) The intensity and electricity of the Joe come playoff time IS all that.

Also a thing to note is that they try to start the playoffs on a friday or saturday. However, this year the season ends on a sunday, so we are probably looking at a wednesday the 15th or thursday the 16th start with a slight chance of a friday start if they start thursday and we play second. Last year the season ended on a sunday and the first games were wednesday and thursday. So start saving up some vacation days. I say come in for the first two games and spend the weekend in detroit : )

As far as I'm concerned the upper deck seats (towards the front) are the best seats in the house for actually watching the game. It'd be awesome to get at ice level for a while for the experience, btu as far as watching the game itself, those are the best value. Most affordable, comfortable, and best view for the cost.
