The Wings need to get blown out.

Will re-emphasize...

The Wings are still making the playoffs that still don't start for a while without much trouble despite this current snag...

The Wings made the playoffs last year without much trouble despite an even bigger snag...

What happens in the playoffs this year, who knows right now...

No need to get too fussy about this stuff when they are going to make the playoffs despite this current snag and not knowing what might happen in the playoffs yet...

I can summarize our problems in 2 words.

TEAM TOUGHNESS.

We aren't hitting people like last year. The Drake's gone, and Downey's in the minors, Pain Train has been working on his D skills, McCarty has done virtually nothing, and Kronner the bread truck has been MIA since the cup finals.

Get us tougher on them, they take fewer shots, allowing Ozzie to stop trying to do his best Dom impersonations night in and out, flopping all over. 4th line provides the spark, and our mass of 1A/1B lines can get some scoring done.

At least that's how i scored last year's cup run. WE WERE TOUGHER THAN IN 2007 AND WE WON THE CUP. Coincidence? I think not.

Chris Neil. Our defence pulls their head out of their ass, and we get a save. More Helm, More Downey. Kopecky done as a Wing.

Think we'll do pretty well then, even a couple of those things get it in the right direction.

I think there's a better chance Bob Probert comes out of retirement and signs with the Wings then there is of us acquiring Chris Neil. After all, he as that former Red Wing thing going for him, right? :D

Seriously though; for whatever reason, the staff is content with keeping a bunch of losers like Kopecky in the lineup rather than bringing up guys that... oh, I don't know... actually do something and contribute to the team. But, whatever. I've held my tongue for this long so far (you'll notice how long I've been away), so there's no sense complaining about it anymore, since I know nothing will be done. I seriously doubt Holland does a single thing when the deadline rolls around, other than maybe a useless Cory Cross or Jiri Slegr-esque deal, and that said player doesn't even make an appearance in the playoffs.

This team is too soft, and too weak defensively to repeat. There, I've said. Let the bashing begin!

Last year your wishlist was headed by 'Chris Gratton' this year? 'Chris Neil'

surely upgraded :)

I have detroit lion syndrome, so im always optimistic..

Since Ottawa is asking for a 2nd rounder for Neil, i say we're out of the sweepstakes, I'd offer a 3rd and Lebda/or/Meech though. But then we dont have the cap space.. The best bet we have, Is that within the next 3 game stretch, Aaron gets called up for Ville, and he proves how much we really do need him.. In the playoffs, it doesn't matter as much. Because our 4th line will be fine.. Just how everyone was on Drakes jock all last year, like they are Malts and Kopecky... I think both will have an impressive offseason.

Our Defense.. We just need Kronner to start supermanning some hoes and that'll add an element we're missing to our top-4.. then we need to find a consistant top 6.. lilja is fine, but we need to know if we're content with Lebda, or is Meech,Cheli,Bigrig the answer.

ahmen brother

Downey gave our team the confidence to play tougher last year, Drake re-enforced it when Downs was 13th man. and when Playoff time came by, Kronner was supper manning on a regular basis. and Drake became an animal.. Draper was a little s*** starter. Helm created havoc with his speed, checking.

Ugh, not another one of these threads...

Unless we are winning games by 5 goals, we aren't a good team apparently. I just don't get it.

I don't get it either. We are going through a slide right now and no one is happy about that (clearly), but if people want to get all angsty and vent, so be it.

Enough of this crap. We've watched it literally since the first game of the schedule. Call it a cup hang over. Call it laziness. Call it a lack of motivation. Call it Bob Dole. I don't care- just effing end it. :ranting:

The Wings have won far too many close games they didn't deserve to. They've avoided too many blow outs simply by the power of their offense.

This does not look like a playoff team. And I'm not comfortable assuming everything will just jump back into place in the playoffs.

Cruising to a win based on talent alone is what killed this franchise before Babcock came here.

The team play. The commitment to team defense and making the correct, simple play. The aggressive forechecking and flawless puck-possession. All of that is gone. Where is the team we saw last season? The team that molested the strongest teams in the league all year long (except for February)?

If you think this is whining, stupidity, sky-is-falling... etc, don't reply. Just move along.

I never panic on here- I don't cry that the sky is falling. We're 50 games in and the team looks as bad as they did in October. This is the time to do something. I just want to know that someone in the Wings managment is worried and plans to do something! Bench a star player and bring up two grand rapids kids to play 20 mins a night- I don't fricking care what, just stop folding your hands for fear of messing with a winning formula! Tinker or something but do it before we're giving up 6 goals in the playoffs and feeling like fools.

*sigh* Let the flaming begin.

Seconded.

My friend Gabe & I have talked about it several times this season. & I always say "Somethings wrong." I can't put my finger on it. The only thing I can think of is Brad McCrimmon. He comes in & takes the place of McLellan; I don't even know who the hell he is. I've never heard him speak, or comment on anything. I really don't know what it is. I can't put my finger on it, but something's wrong.

My friend keeps telling me "We're fine." But there's been so much s*** that's happened this year that I can point to & say, "No. We're not fine."

1. Fifty shots against? Come on! We're the goddamned Red Wings. That s*** doesn't happen. We've been out shot several times this year. Whereas in the past, I only remember it happening once a season.

2. Give aways are unbelievable this year.

3. Are PK is terrible. I remember our goal used to be to have the PK rank & PP rank equal less than 10. Well, PK ranks fails that it self.

4. Everyone's plus/minus this year. Christ.

5. The goals for/against differential as opposed to the past. I guess this goes hand & hand with number four, but so does losing.

6. Turco won against us at the Joe. WTF

Look, I get it. We're only half way through with the season. These are silly little things. We're still winning & it doesn't matter how. Blah. Blah. Blah.

If you really think that, you're not looking hard enough. Something's wrong. I don't know what it is. But it better stop.
