chelios4eva 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Not to diminish his sweet pass today, but was it just me, or did Hossa point it out? I mean, I'm not sure if Hossa was just raising his stick to call for the pass, but it looked to me as he was skating, he was pointing his stick towards Samulesson as if to say "look he's open". If someone recorded and wants to just see if I'm crazy or not, please do. Just trying to give credit where it's due

I've really enjoyed watching Hudler develop. Seems like he's getting better every game.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 He's developing himself into a 1st and 3rd round draft picks for us. Wings would match that. If he gets nabbed it will be for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If they give Filppula $3million just think how much Hudler is worth to them. (remember- Filppula can be moved)

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) Hudler doesn't need Hossa to point out his playmaking. As it stands, Hudler is developing into a better playmaker than Hossa and Zetterberg. He ALWAYS knows where to put the puck. His decision making skills are elite. If he were 4-5 inches taller, Babs would be giving him 16-17 minutes a game, and he'd probably rank among the top 30 in scoring. He actually ranks 48th in scoring as it stands, putting him among the company of guys like Spezza, Zherdev, Havlat, Staal, Toews, etc. Here we go - 48th in scoring, 281st in ice time among forwards. That's amazing. I don't know if I'd agree with your assessment YET, but Hudler is certainly getting there. The guy is one of the most reliable players on the ice, and he's quietly entered the "Just Under Elite" level of NHL players. Give him a year or two and he's going to be just plain Elite. If Hudler was a UFA I would literally be hoping Holland would sign him before Franzen or Hossa.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 He's not the best in the defensive zone but he's a brilliant playmaker and is relatively young Let me preface this by saying I don't think Hudler will ever be at Datsyuk's level, but it wasn't long ago that Datsyuk was chided for being defensively irresponsible. Hudler reminds me a lot of Milan Hejduk.
T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (as if I have to ask ) but I could have sworn I heard Mickey say last night that Huds is playing 2nd best only to Datsyuk on the Wings lately. Not that I want to split hairs and start a debate about who's playing better (Hossa is of course doing awesome) and exactly what he meant by that (production value to ice time?) but either way, that is high praise and high recognition. drwscc 212 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 It's about time people start coming around. Huds may be small, but he gets things done with whatever ice time he is given. The Wings are lucky to have a 3rd liner as good as he is. Kudos, Rex!
