datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 it was cool seeing trevor thompson take on filppula yesterday in a game of keep away. he was able to keep up with flip for the most part. flip is a very good puck handler, too. when trevor played keep away with datsyuk, he barely touched the puck and never got control. datsyuk just spun him like a top. it was hard to put that in context because i didn't know how well trevor could handle himself. watching him keep pace with val really puts his beat down from dats in a new light. datsyuk is a wizard. SweWings 45 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 As much as I'd love for Dats to win MVP if Ovechkin gets within 5 points of whoever is in the point-lead with the amount of goals he'll likely have I don't really see how he won't get it. Unless of course Malkin keeps up his 10-point lead...

Jarret_G 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 i think what's exceptional about Datsyuk's performance is that he's out there for the PK a lot of the time too. And look at his PIM's.....14, that's incredible. Normally defensive forwards suffer in the +/- category because they're out there for a lot of PK's, this guy is the ultimate all-round player in the game today. Sure, Ovechkin and Malkin can snipe, Savard and Crosby can set up plays, but who does all of these just as good as any of those guys...Datsyuk. Plus he has the pain threshold of a dying giraffe and never knows when to stop. You, Mr. Datsyuk, get a cookie.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 Amazing. Lady Byng, Selke, Stanley Cup, the list goes on and on... 2009 will be a very good year for Mr. Datsyuk.
steveyzerman 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2009 I agree with the league wide consensus that OV is the most explosive offensive threat in the league, and due to the non-superstar status of most the players he is with he deserves the MVP which has always been described as 'more valuable to his team than anyone else in the league is valuable to theirs' which I completely agree. But with the offensive and defensive dominance of Pavel this season, we all know that all-around he is the best player in the league right now. But SHHH! don't tell the media You do realize that his team is actually good, right? Very good actually. & its not just him. The guy plays defense like a turd.
