The Detroit Free Press's Helene St. James reports that Red Wings forward Kirk Maltby drew the short straw and will sit tonight against the Nashville Predators:

February 18, Detroit Free Press: Update from Joe Louis Arena Wednesday: Johan Franzen is in tonight against Nashville, and Kirk Maltby will be a healthy scratch.

Franzen hasn't played since taking a shot to his right hand Feb. 7.

"We'll just watch him here tonight but normally the first game back is not an issue anyway," Mike Babcock said. "He's missed five games; in saying that, his hand feels good. He's a big body and we missed him when he was away and it's great to have him back."

The Detroit News's Dave Dye confirms the news as well.

Mebee. On the other hand, I used to love watching Konstantinov deck somebody in the middle of the ice during play. I 'knew' Vladdy and Tootoo is not nor will he ever be a Konstantinov.

Vladdy knew that timing was everything (i.e., his size should have told him he couldn't play like that, huh.)

and his timing was always during play, not after the whistle.
