Yak19 303 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 I think the Sens got the better of this one, even if they do not make the playoffs, Campoli is a pretty underrated offensive-dman and Comrie can be a solid player, the Island was just a terrible place to play, if they sign both after this season i can see them playing well for the Sens. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) Its just funny that the Sens actually think they can make the playoffs. Edited February 21, 2009 by YoungGuns1340
Grim 5 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 who cares about ottawa.... them Isles are deliberately trying to ensure that first overall pick. whats next... the fishsticks will trade with the Trashers and Lightning??
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) The Sens absolutely won this trade. Campoli is worth the San Jose 1st on his own. So that part is even. Comrie is a better player than McAmmond, and the Sens might actually get their second line producing by adding Comrie. Furthermore, Comrie is much more likely to stick around next season than McAmmond is. The only way the Isles win this deal is if McAmmond stays in NYI and returns to his past form, and Comrie leaves Ottawa. And even then Campoli would have to fail to reach his first-pairing potential which he has been showing the past few seasons. Ottawa now has two solid scoring lines and an improved defense. I'm certain that, given what they gave up to get that pick, they intend to at least try and keep Comrie around. If Ottawa makes the playoffs, Murray probably stays around too. EDIT: The quick question is, I didn't get a chance to watch any NYI games this year...does anyone know if Comrie and Hilbert were playing together like they did in college? Superman54 91 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 I don't think it was a very smart trade on Murray's part. The draft is quite deep this year with talent, and to give up a first round pick for these guys, just doesn't seem worth it in my eyes. I guess Murray is only thinking of the present, rather then the future...
TheOwl 77 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) One bad contract can break a team. Yashin's broke the Islanders, and Fishers is killing Ottawa, not to mention letting Chara go. Ottawa feel hard. No one will ever take Fishers on a trade, and he's playing horribly. Edited February 21, 2009 by TheOwl

Ottawa feel hard. No one will ever take Fishers on a trade, and he's playing horribly. A team that is desperate for a mid-level two-way forward capable of playing the second line primarily as a defensive player and playmaker, someone who can kill penalties effectively as well as play the occasional power play, could use Fisher if they got him for fair value without killing their cap. Nashville might be a candidate for this. As far as Fisher...sound like anyone on the Wings who we've been arguing over this season?

Ottawa feel hard. No one will ever take Fishers on a trade, and he's playing horribly. WHAT? You're right, Fisher isnt playing that great, but is anyone in ottawa? In past years, pretty much every year other than this, he has been one of the bright points on that team. His physical play along with his scoring touch, he had flirted with the 50 point mark the last 3 or 4 years. Im contributing this season to a broken team who is just not playing up to its potential. Im not saying Fisher is a phenomenal player but hes a good depth guy with some talent, and to say that NOBODY will take him in a trade is a ridiculous comment in my book. There are plenty of teams out there who are desperate enough to trade a roleplayer for a struggling Fisher in the hopes that he rebounds out of this bad season. Im not saying a team like the wings, boston or San jose are going to go pick him up, but a team struggling and battleing to make the playoffs who is desperate for some grit with some scoring would make a deal in my book if Fisher was out there. But i guess thats just my opinion. Im wrong alot so it wouldnt be the first time...

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 Campoli is a great pick-up for Ottawa, he's a decent 2-way defenceman and will play alot of minutes for the Sens. I've always liked Comrie and he played great for Ottawa a couple years ago, plus San Jose's first will be 29th or 30th overall, not a big lose for Ottawa.
