wouldn't it be worse if the crowd laughed uncontrollably instead of booing a hated player?

logic behind this thinking--if you're being booed you're obviously antagonizing the opposing team in a way that's undesirable but effective (ostensibly).

but, if you're laughed at, your attempts at being an effective player is seemingly dismissed as evidenced by the laughter.

shall we try!?

edit: clarity

It might sound too much like cheering when 19,000 people do it. But then again, the Joe only has 45 these days, so it might work.

When good teams, like the Sharks, come into town, the Joe fills up pretty good, all things considered.

The only problem I have with this is that laughter is not appropriate for a purely evil player, like it is for most players that we hate.

Laugher is associated with happiness and entertainment, which makes it a really good idea for players that we love to hate like Crosby or Fedorov or Turco. We make fun of these players because it's fun and entertaining.

But what about when the Wings play the Sharks tomorrow and Claude Lemeiux? We don't hate him because it's fun. We hate him because he intentionally put one of our players in pain. I think he's evil. Maybe you guys don't think so but I do. I think it's because I was about 7 when he hurt Draper, and kids are very impressionable and think of things to the extreme. So since my childhood, I have always kind of thought of him as a bad guy in a scary movie. I can't imagine laughing at him because he makes me sick.

I couldn't laugh at Pronger either. I don't hate him for fun. I hate him because he's a terrible person.

How about throwing turtles on the ice? Or if that's too inhumane for those who clean the ice, turtle shells? Just thinking out loud here...

Now that is some funny __--!!!

The Joe fills up even when s*** teams come in like nashville and minnesota. Go look at the attendence for the past few games. They have sold out.

i went to the jan8th game vs dallas and I can tell you now if i looked through the crowd for the whole game i couldn't have picked 100 empty seats. This was vs dalas though and those games are always pretty fun to watch...just sayin. I went to 2 games this year and both were pretty full.

Ha ha I was actually thinking about something along these lines earlier today as I was driving home. I was thinking how funny it would be if the fans just screamed and did anything they could to distract the opposition when they went on the power play. Think Duke fans when they are playing at home and the other team is shooting foul shots. It would be that, but instead of the seconds it takes for foul shots, our fans would do it with the same energy for two minutes.

People would definitely be huffing and puffing towards the end, but I thought it would be hilarious none the less.

i actually met the guy in person and was incredibly nice to me. just saying...

I am sure off the ice, most of these guys we love to hate are really cool people off the ice. I was watching a something about Pronger on NHL Network on what he goes thru in a normal day. Pretty interesting off the ice but on the ice, KNOCK HIS BLOCK OFF!!
