Glubki 17 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 strange; on ATDHE right now it's showing slots for Pittsburgh-Chicago and TB-Vancouver. That is because both games are on yahoo and available for public viewing.
shyster 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 It says on their page that they don't have any blackouts.. have you tried it yourself? EDIT: atdhe now has a link for the Blackhawks-Penguins & Lightning-Canucks game tonight.. what's up with that? EDIT2: beaten I just saw that the black-outs don't apply. How are they "outside the NHL's jurisdiction" as they claim?
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 That is because both games are on yahoo and available for public viewing. Makes sense. Well that's good, going through atdhe probably negates the region-block that yahoo has.
Jocu 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 Watching Streaming Sports online, the next Napster!!!!! Listen if they offered it for 5 bucks a month sure I am in, but it is like iTunes charging $1 a song, bulls*** not when I can go to a Russian site and completely legally pay for and download music at $.20 a song $2 for an album through my Visa. Just like getting my Jerseys from China (even though they are made in Canada) for $30 (most expensive Jersey I bought was the Z) while the NHL.com ones that are cheaper material, and lesser quality in general are 5x's the price. I am not complaining that atdhe is down, I used it while I could, but if the NHL thinks in this market/economy I am going to pay 5 times as much to get a service from them instead of a cheaper avenue, they are full of s***, now if they made the price reasonable, sure I am all over it, until then, they can Suck it. IF the NHL, big IF, really wanted to market the game, they would make 1 game a night available free with Streaming, or make streaming cheap, it is a minimal extra cost to stream the game (remember they already have streaming games and highlights accessible) and if they did it at a low price, people who don't have Versus can watch Hockey without paying through the nose. Why is America so afraid of technology, the President can't have a black berry, music can't be downloaded, TV can't be on the Internet, sports games can't be on the internet! WHY? http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl Yahoo! has almost two free games a night.

Statts 4 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 Anyone using hockeystreams.com? $19.99 for 3 months, and if the info on their page is correct it should be better quality than Center Ice. I'm just wondering what will stop the NHL from shutting them down as well? I might try it out for tonights game and see if it's worth paying for. I did a one day trial with them. The stream quality is the same as CI online. Probaly a better deal. One thing I noticed is the streams are delayed a half minute or so.

henrik40 76 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 I just created an account on hockeystreams.com but it didn't ask me to sign up for anything that required a payment. Is it crappy quality unless you pay or did I just sign up for a trial period?
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted February 27, 2009 (edited) If you want to watch all 30 teams play, the NHL has a package you can pay for just like every major sporting league. It sucks, but it's the way it's done. I like this quote from HFboards: Which is ironic because they most of the time just re-stream the NHL Game Center streams. I also agree with this. The Center Ice package is no different than the other league packages out there. Funny thing is, regarding sports like the NFL, you get a whopping 4 months worth of broadcasts and a good handful are available via satellite CBSE/CBSW and FOXE/FOXW for $2 each per month. Whereas Center Ice goes over 7 months, games throughout the week, mostly non-regional games (i.e. a good portion of the country gets a certain game all the time), and even, for US residents who don't normally get CBC, Canadian broadcasts. I've bought Center Ice for 6 years now (half of that being a poor college student) and I don't quite understand how people think they should get it all for free and legally. I wonder if people ever paid attention when a handful of games for the last couple decades have said that rebroadcasting is prohibited. I don't see how, despite the great service ATDHE provides, they don't get taken down for just rebroadcasting a pay service. That's illegal as f***, and I wonder for those who want their ATDHE free and are complaining, if they'd be willing to pay the legal fees and fine for ATDHE after they get sued if they ignore the CAD. I can see both sides here (I don't understand why the the NHL can't bargain with stream websites to help ease the load on GameCenter, which sucks my ass) but I also cannot see why people would ***** when their free stream gets taken down. Anyone using hockeystreams.com? $19.99 for 3 months, and if the info on their page is correct it should be better quality than Center Ice. I'm just wondering what will stop the NHL from shutting them down as well? I might try it out for tonights game and see if it's worth paying for. If you value your money, even as little as $20, I'd have them show they have the rights to rebroadcast, because I sorely doubt if and if they get taken down (this is even worse than free rebroadcasts because they'd be profiting off it) you'll have a hard time getting your money back. As for why ATDHE is down, that's mostly because some greedy ****** at motherpucker.ca wanted to rebroadcast rebroadcasted streams from ATDHE and plaster ads all over the ******* place (i.e. to make money off a free rebroadcast), not to mention word his stream page as if HE was the one broadcasting it and should get all the credit. Rather than appreciate free s***, even when it's illegal, people still have to take it one step further. Too bad he only got a Cease and Desist. Probie 7 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 (edited) I just created an account on hockeystreams.com but it didn't ask me to sign up for anything that required a payment. Is it crappy quality unless you pay or did I just sign up for a trial period? They throw in a free game here or there, its random. You gotta pay to see the games you want. I just tried the $10 for a month as a test, cause i was sick of crappy feeds and just wanted to enjoy a game being able to actually watch it all, and not 50% of it due to lagging and tech difficulties. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 This doesn't work? https://europe.espn360.com/sport/NHL.aspx 10+ dollars for a 24 hour pass.. The monthly pass isn't exactly dirt cheap either. TheOwl 77 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 ATDHE always had pretty bad quality streams, and was laggy. Justintv has games too. I just gave up and bought Center Ice, even though I only watch Wings games, and miss about half of them because of work. It's worth it, it probably averages to 2$ per game to watch, and it's consistent and good quality.

Anyway, I just saw that they show tonights game on Canal+ so I don't have to bother with streams for now..

FYI, ATDHE had 1200kbps, which counts as a HD-stream, which is not "bad quality streams" as you put it... it never lagged it was probably your bad connection. Cern 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 ATDHE always had pretty bad quality streams, and was laggy. lol, what? You must have a crummy internet connection or something, ATDHE are the exact same streams you get from CI and unless I'm using up like 2gigs of ram on outside programs I've almost never had buffering/lag issues. esteef 2,679 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 I pay for Center Ice but still have to use streams every time the Wings play the Ducks. I fall victim to some stupid tv zoning loophole where I'm technically in two zones but only see one of the teams. I only see Kings games on my FSN channel even though the Kings AND Ducks are blacked out on my Center Ice (due to their proximity to my house). Not that I like the Ducks all that much but it still sucks to pay extra and still not see all the f***in' games! esteef
