donfishmaster 62 Report post Posted March 8, 2009 Lilja did have a 1:30 shift before the "fight" started, give the guy a break. I've always wondered why Andreas has gotten so much crap from lots of Wings fans. He looks like he plays his heart out every shift. He has below average god-given hockey skills. I'd rather have that combo that an above-average lazy player. He is what he is...

He has a lot more playoff experience now though.

wingnut40 176 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 Wasn't that the game he scored in as well? Yes. Wings fans seem to have selective memories and the mind set of "what have you done for me lately". See treatment of goalies.
Lilja 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 to me it didnt look like Lilja wanted that fight at all. It looked like he got his bell rung and then hung on to Weber when they fell and then he just had to defend himself. Ok maybe i shouldnt be such a homer defending him.. It is rare that Lilja fights that way though, that "quickly started" type of thing. He usually needs to get ready and "square off" or what you call it there. The whole "fight" looked strange to me but Lilja never makes excuses, not even when getting his ass kicked.
RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 I think it was the 2007 game 5 WCF OT giveaway that made people pissed. He has a lot more playoff experience now though. That whole series was filled with overtimes, turnovers, flying elbows, and phantom calls on Datsyuk. I think Lilja played solid last year, and much better this year. Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Stuart Lilja - Ericcson On paper it's the best defense we have had in a while. Lets see it on the ice in the 09 playoffs. Lets Go Red Wings! 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 He will be fine -- there is absolutely no reason to get all up in arms and start panicked threads over. This is his first concussion. I can tell you it isn't serious enough to keep him out of the playoffs by looking at the tape of the fight that caused it -- anyone who has seen concussions and/or experienced one could. Actually, I read that he said that he had had concussions before, but this was different. Of course, all concussions are different, depending on where on your head you get them, the extent of the injury, and how much you had upstairs to begin with
