Just like last year, it was Hasek's job to lose. See how that works? I don't, I'm pretty sure goalies have lost their starting roles during the regular season as well. RedStormRising 7 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 (edited) I pray to God that it is Conklin (I would also take a cardboard cut-out of Ozzie in net, because in that case it would most likely do a better job of stop pucks than the real Ozzie). My heart will fail if Osgood is in net because I'll be fearful that every shot will go in. I say give Conklin the majority of the starts the rest of the season and see what happens. Given his regular season stats, I don't expect him to have as many chances as Hasek did last year in the post season. One bad game and it's suddenly Conklin's job to lose. Conklin will get injured by a Pronger cheapshot in the Wings last series meet against the Ducks and Ozzie will continue to not play well leading up to playoffs. I think this is the most likely scenario unless Osgood has a couple of more horrendous games. If the defense wakes up in the playoffs, as I expect they will, then Osgood should prevail and play well. If not, Conks is a solid goaltender that has shown he has the stuff. The Wings are just bored right now, that's why they play so bad sometimes. They know they are a lock for the playoffs and they don't care about home ice throughout, they can win without it.
