Going to Columbus?

Rate this topic

Just wondering if a lot of fans usually make the trip to Columbus when the Wings play there. I'll be there Sunday to see the game. Any recommendations on places to go before/after the game?

Thanks.

I usually try to go to at least one game in Columbus every year (I live in Cincinnati). Never really stayed long enough to do anything downtown. As with any major city, there are plenty of restaurants in the area and basically anything right near the arena is good. I'm not sure if anything has changed since last year, but from what I've seen the fans definitely care more about what the Buckeyes are doing than the hockey game.

Wear a UofM hat. You'll get special discounts at restaurants.

Actually don't unless you plan to use handicapped parking.

Frog Bear and Wild Boar usually has a pretty good atmosphere for the pre-games, and is right next to me Nationwide on the east side. R Bar across the street is newly renovated too. If you walk around to the east entrance of the stadium, you'll see plenty of nice establishments to enjoy.

I'll probably be there as well. Always quite a few Wings fans, though not like 5 years ago when it was nearly 50-50.

That actually has changed somewhat. The Blue Jackets are the hot ticket in town, some of the fans who left have come back. Nationwide has had a great atmosphere lately, much better than the Joe. You know, what usually comes with a team finally doing well, lot of excitement for the BJ's.

im hopefully going, i live 15 mins north of nationwide and my dad has 2 tickets, im expecting him to bring me but who knows haha. a great place to eat is BD's mongolian grill, really good food, not so much of a bar atmosphere, but always packed with fans. I'll be wearing my Z jersey though, maybe this time i can see my boys win, last time we were missing lids and dats though... oh well. something worth noting, nash has 2 of his i believe 3 career hat tricks agaisnt the wings this season....

Also, the thing that pisses me off about games there is they try to turn it into a Michigan/OSU rivalry thing and play stupid Ohio State themed songs and all that crap all game. It gets pretty annoying. To them, Detroit fan= must be a Wolverine fan.

Annoying to me too. There are plenty of Buckeye fans around who are rooting for the Red Wings too.
