Osgood named playoff starter

Making a choice between Ozzy and Conk's reminds me of voting in 2004. Kerry and Bush. You basically just had to figure out which was gonna suck worse. Hopefully Babcock makes a better choice then America did.

haha, yeah, Kerry would have been sooooo much better.

Not a real great comparison.

Babcock knows what he's doing and he'll put the team on the ice that he feels is most likely to win.

What do you propose then?

Bitching a whooooole lot, then rubbing it in people's faces given the statistically likely chance (roughly the same as last year's, 93.75%) that the Wings aren't one of the 16 teams to win the cup, so that way all my negativity, pissing and moaning, is actually worth 1000 internets. But you know, even though fans of other teams might be appreciative of having a shot at the cup for nearly two decades straight, I think I'll just be fault finding and search for things to complain about. I mean, because even though a team makes it to the playoffs in such a nice fashion (1st - 3rd) for so many seasons, it all means jack s*** if they don't win the cup, and they may as well just throw every game and get the 1st draft pick if they aren't going to be in the Top 5 GAA/Save%/Wins/Points/Goals/Assists or +/-. I doubt there's any rational fan who would actually enjoy seeing their team win a whole lot, even if they don't win the cup every year. Logical fans find things to ***** about, even if their team is doing better than 90% of the league, and usually on a yearly basis.

With Osgood - he's going to allow every game at least 2 SOFT goals... Red Wings are better to play with 6 players (keep Osgood on the bench...)

Since he only allowed 1 soft goal yesterday, this statement is incorrect.

I think people understand this concept, it's kinda a given so it's not mentioned much. What's your alternative then if Osgood isn't a capable #1? Call up the minor league goalies with no playoff experience? You can't make trades right now. Conklin has just seconds of playoff experience and hasn't been the better of himself and Osgood lately. Osgood has extensive game playoff experience both good and bad. He's been the better of the two lately. Unless he just treads dirt these next few games off the face of the earth, he's the team's best choice for goalie.

What do you propose then?

I noticed this last night but was too punchy to respond at the time. SWF - You really, REALLY gotta watch asking these logical questions. ;) And I'm sure you've noted you're still waiting for an answer.

I speak from experience. More than once, I've asked for what their solution is. Nada. Ain't never gonna happen.

I truly believe it is an unwritten law that whiners/bitchers/moaners only do just that. For whatever reason(s), they seldom have creative answers or suggestions for whatever problem they're propounding. Some of 'em here have said as much. That they feel it's perfectly all right to mewl and puke and not propose. SUCH a waste! But I commend you for your logic and perserverence.

Brilliant!

I just hope that the 6th man can make up for any shots on goal that the D usually lets go... cause if not we are looking at a 21-3 loss...

but your logic is air tight brillant all around

You must have missed the save on Koivu when the game was tied 2-2.

It's funny how the good things from Ozzie get overlooked but every mistake gets magnified.

You must have missed Clutterback's goal...

Nope, I caught it. It was a mistake and Ozzie made up for it. When the Red Wings got turnover prone in the third period, Ozzie made some huge saves to bail them out.

The team won, Ozzie played fine. What more do you exactly want?

I don't think anybody missed it. And remember when he was clutch when he needed to be in the 3rd period when it mattered most?

Yeah, youppi!!! Only 1 softie... He's back!!!

Yep, only 1 soft goal that game, which means that you were overblowing the game and Osgood. He let it 0 soft goals tonight, so your claim that he lets in 2 soft goals every game is incorrect and overdramatic.

Nobody, even Osgood's most loyalist supporters, are saying that he is fully back. It is downright a joke now though to see all the obnoxious statements his way now without much logic, if any at all. Worse than the Hasek vitol last year, and almost as bad as the Joseph vitol.

You can roll your eyes at me all you want for being so literal, but when you post asinine s**t that is easy to refute, you're going to get called out on it.

I'm actually pretty excited about Osgood right now. You know he's going to turn it up for the playoffs and he's been looking good down the stretch here when he's had even half a defense in front of him. I still am not convinced by any stretch that Osgood won't equal last years playoff performance. I've just learned to trust the guy to do what he needs to when it counts. I also trust that he's a pretty honest and reasonable guy. Again, maybe it's just watching the guy since he was a rookie every season and even following his seasons with the Isles/Blues. He tends to call it how it is and again, he has been able to make it happen when it counts most numerous times. There's never been a playoff series loss that can be pegged on Osgood. Not one.
