toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 I really hope they don't give it to Ovechkin, but I worry that it might be likely. The reason I worry is that I don't think he deserves it at all. There is no doubt that he has had a great year and he's the best goal scorer in the league, but that doesn't make him the MVP. He hasn't had as a good of a year this year as last, yet his team is way, way, way better this year.
Kira 451 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 I would give anything in this world to see Pasha win the MVP award. But it will never happen. He's not a media darling....he doesn't hog the spotlight...he's a humble, hard working player who puts team first, individual honors second. Unselfish, dedicated - everything a team would want to have in a player, but he'll never win because he's not the media darling that everyone wants to see. And that, to me, is a crying shame. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 Yeah, I don't know what that's about, considering he's scored as much as he has playing most of the year with guys like Pascal Dupuis, Miro Satan, and Matt Cooke. Billy Guerin and Chris Kunitz aren't exactly world-beaters either.

While Crosby isn't the MVP on his team, but he easily is one of the 5 most valuable players in the league this year and will probably be a beast again these playoffs. In all honesty, I would give the award to Parise or Datsyuk, but realistically it's going to Ovechkin, or a little less likely but very possibly (obviously), Malkin. How exactly is Crosby one of the five most valuable players in the league when Malkin is more valuable to Pittsburgh? Most valuable player and Best player are NOT THE SAME. Crosby is lucky if he's in the top 15 Most Valuable players.
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) How exactly is Crosby one of the five most valuable players in the league when Malkin is more valuable to Pittsburgh? Most valuable player and Best player are NOT THE SAME. Crosby is lucky if he's in the top 15 Most Valuable players. How not? They play on separate lines and both bring it to the table huge when they are out there. Malkin is just more valuable this season because of his points, Crosby is far above Malkin's defensive ability, and that's not even saying Malkin's bad defensively... But Crosby is very good in his own end. That's ridiculous to say Crosby is lucky to be a top 15 MVP, outrageously ridiculous, and considering Crosby only trails Malkin in points per game by 0.02... It wouldn't be a stretch to say he's more valuable than Malkin, not that points are the only thing that matter, but they seem to be to you.
