Doesn't matter if it was harmless, it was distasteful and disrespectful.

Just an ******* being an *******!

If you only knew 1/4 of what is actually being said/done during a hockey game...

Your right people skate by the goalie all the time when the play is dead and smack him in the back of the head with a stick.

I have a feeling you would be surprised by how many "cheap shots" you see at the face-off circles, corner position jockeying, crashing the net. A little tap on the back of a helmet is not a big deal. Bad timing? Of course. Smart thing to do? Probably not. But players say things/do things on the ice that are much much worse then tapping a goalie on the head it's just hockey. That play deserves a penalty nothing more...

That's all stuff I already understand and it's all part of the game. I don't like this play. Doesn't mean I don't understand what goes on during a game. You said it when you said it wasn't smart and it was terrible timing. If it wasn't Sean Avery maybe it could of been chalked up as an accident but he does stupid s*** all the time. I'm convinced he has head in ass syndrome, he should really seek help for that.

Hmmmmm. Everything you described here is DURING play.......So yeah I guess if there are "cheap shots" during play...

AFTER the whistle....you need to just get your ass to the face off circle or off the ice.......

I know it seems like an overblown incident, but keep things in perspective:

#1 It was during a TV timeout

#2 It was well after the play was over

#3 It was completly unprovoked

#4 It was a stick to the head

#5 It was their goalie

#6 The goalie was on his knees stretching

#7 It was comitted by a guy that has a reputation for jack-assery

It one thing to stir the pot, but to go around hitting goalies in the head with your stick that are stretching during TV timeouts? Are we really going to say that's acceptable? Is the NHL going to turn into a league where there is no respect and you have to watch your back all the time, even during timeouts?
