Following last night's 4-1 victory over Buffalo (and after stat sheets were delivered to the dressing rooms), the Red Wings’ Henrik Zetterberg pointed out that it was Pavel Datsyuk, not Hank, who had the second assist on Nick Lidstrom's empty-net goal.

The Red Wings confirmed it on video and asked the NHL to look at the play this morning.

The league agreed and is making the change which will give Datsyuk the assist. Along with last night’s assist on Marian Hossa’s goal, it gives Datsyuk 97 points this season — tying his career high set last season — and leaves him three shy of 100.

Glad they caught that. I had the game on tivo and everyone knows Dats is my favorite player so I was doing a double take on that like WTF? That was Dat's on the 2ndary assist.

man, i would be so stoked in datsyuk passed crosby. i don't really dislike crosby and don't think all the attention he gets is his fault...blah blah blah...the point is, for datsyuk to finish ahead of the guy who is the "face of the game" would just go to show how great datsyuk is.

dats is obviously on a more offensively talented team than crosby is, but crosby also has malkin...who is the scoring leader on his team. dats is still (i think) 25 points ahead of our second-place guy...which just says to me that dats can to do much amazing work on his own!

i think it's been a while since we've had a guy finish in the top three, eh?

Datsyuk was on the ice. He got a + even though he originally wasn't awarded an assist. It doesn't matter if he got the assist or not. He is still stil +38.

I'm sure Pavs can get the 3 points by the end of the season. With the amount of time he has the puck, he's almost guaranteed one goal or assist a game.
