When I first logged on here the victory mark wasn't up, so I thought we lost. But reading the past few pages, it looks like all is well! So glad to hear Ozzie is back to form.

Couple of questions: What did Ozzie say during his interview?

How did the defense hold up?

Was the Joe 50% full of BJs?

Just got back from the game. There were no more than a few very small groups of 3-4 BJ fans. I would say it was probably 3% full of BJ's. :P

Awesome game. If those guy's in the tight short spandex shorts post or read on here, you would have made the night very good if the Wings would have gotten blown out.

What a relief this game was for me. Despite a rocky first period defensively (penalties and CBJ forwards getting behind the defense a couple times), Chris Osgood was a f**king beast out there and held the team together until they got rolling. By the final 8-10 minutes of the first period, the Wings had assumed control of the game.

All the things I wasn't sure the Wings could just "flip the switch on," they did. Great goaltending, solid team defense, shot blocking, excellent PK (though the brutal CBJ PP is not much of a litmus test), physical play, secondary scoring, winning battles to loose pucks... they really put it all together.

Great game, and a great start to the series.

:rotflmao:

It's not very often you get to play a team that proudly calls themselves the BJs, so we have to take advantage of referencing it every chance we get.

On the one hand, it's a shame there weren't too many BJ's around at the arena in one sense.

So I was rewinding my tape from tonight's game and saw the Ozzie interview. Here was the feisty bit of it:

John Keating: Is there a sense of relief?

Osgood: No, I don't doubt myself ever, but people that don't know me do. I've been playing for 15 years and have the most playoffs wins in Wings history for a reason and not because I'm a bad goalie.

Damnnnnnnn. Tell 'em, Ozzie!

Just got back from the game. Ozzie was freakin amazing. It had to feel good that even after his s***ting year the crowd was still behind him. I loved the Ozzie chants even before the game started. I was surprised with how few jackets fans were there. I thought there would be way more considering the how close columbus is and this is the first playoff game ever. Best part was when the only two in our section left at the start of the third. Loved it.

Got back from the game a short while ago -- great atmosphere at the Joe tonight. Was very loud and my voice was completely gone just after the midway point of the game. (I think it was the repeated "MAA-SON" chants after Kronwall made it 3-1.)

LOVED how they finished their checks and had the forecheck rocking tonight. Too many during the regular season I've watched them curl off of hits -- none of that tonight. Made a huge difference.

15 to go!

Everyone needs to go look at the picture of hudler on nhl.com right now, it is the definitive picture of "Happy Hudler"

Can anyone give me a briefing on why Hudler looks Chinese? I could have swore he was Czech.

Great game, Osgood was fantastic. If you told me before the game that Osgood would outplay Mason, I'm not sure I would have believed you. He was steady as can be out there and his big saves helped to settle us into the game. Huge props for Ozzie.

Good to see our PK units coming up big, even though Columbus has an awful powerplay. Nash was pretty much invisible in this game, so either we did a great job of containing him or he just had a bad game. Probably a bit of both, but I think we all know that if Nash isn't scoring, Columbus isn't going to beat us.

Awesome start to the series, I cannot wait for Game 2.

What a fantastic game! Ozzie played awesome! He made some spectacular saves in the first! Keep it up Oz! It was great to see the Wings play the way we all knew they could!

Did anyone catch Babcock's comment in the press conference about Rafalski gooning it up in the first with the 2 penalties?

Can't wait for game 2! Let's keep it going boys!
