HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) A little feisty eh? Love it! "Everybody makes too big of a deal out of me," Osgood said Thursday, sounding slightly exasperated. "I'm just part of the team." ... Does it bother him that some hockey analysts are giving the Blue Jackets the edge in net with rookie Steve Mason? "Who are the people doing it?" Osgood asked. Awkward pause. "Go," Osgood said. "Next one." That's from a different interview, but here's a 7 minute one from yesterday. Gotta love Oz. He's calm and cool about it yet a little RAWR as well! http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2009/04/we...wings_odds.html Scroll down near the bottom. Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 It's not like he could possibly play even worse. I just hope he doesn't screw it up for the rest of the team.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 The cycle of pinning the blame on the defense, then on Ozzie, then back to the defense, then back again to Ozzie is beyond old. The fact of the matter is that *both* Ozzie and the defense need to step up their game. They've done it before and know the intensity level the playoffs require. If the Wings don't win it all, its not going to be because of one or the other.....it'll be because of both. Similarly, if they are fortunate enough to win it all, it will again be because of both. OsGOD 3 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) Meh if the D steps of their game as its been said we don't need a super star goalie. Our high quality D does have the ability to play that type of hockey. Its the fact they haven't been playing their tradional Defense that our goalie weeknesses has been shown through so much this season. Its a matter of fact for this team... With that said i could care less for the personal stats of ozzie or the D.. i am just super excited to get to see Nash and Boll for at least 4 more games this season! VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 Ozzie's got that determination in his voice it sounds like. Something he hasn't had all season. I have faith in him, he's going to be huge for us!

Yea, I think he's got that extra edge to it. Doesn't seem overconfident either, I'm liking it.
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 I dont give a flying toot if Ozzie gives up 3.33 GAA over the playoffs...as long as he wins 16 games... Wins are what matters...period.

You are correct in saying that if the D steps up their game this team doesn't need a superstar goalie. However, we need Ozzie to be solid which he hasn't been all season. OsGod, its clear you're putting the GA issue the Wings have had all season simply on the D in front of him, and while I agree its been half the problem, Ozzie hasn't been near himself all year. The point stands that they *both* need to step up. Regardless of the D stepping up, the opposition is still gonna get shots on goal and Ozzie's gonna have to make those saves to help instill the same level of confidence the team in front of him had last Spring. As sick as I am of people blaming Ozzie for the GA problems this season, I'm just as sick of people saying when the D steps up, Ozzie will to. It's BS if you ask me. Ozzie can step up his game even if the defense doesn't, just like the defense can step up their game even if Ozzie doesn't. Let's hope *both* do.

Turretin 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) Proposed: Osgood plays best when people doubt him. Theory: Knowing this, Chris Osgood played shakey throughout most of the season. He needed to walk the fine line between keeping his job as a starter, and playing poor enough that everyone would doubt him. Result: Osgood has single-handedly manipulated the entire hockey community into doubting him. He now has the super powers to run rough-shod over his opponents int he playoffs. Is this true? Yes. How do I know? Maybe I actually am Chris Osgood. Then again, probably not. Edited April 16, 2009 by Turretin
