Love the goalie!

:hehe:

I knew he wasn't done. He was careful to say, "I am finished with the NHL, not with the business of hockey." I hope to see him play in the Olympics. Wouldn't that be a kick in the hockey pants to see Team Czech skate away with the Gold again?

Good for my man, I hope he plays until he's 50, or past that if he wants. Anyone who's a fan of the best ever knows he's capable of it. Go get 'em, Dom!

The difference here is Favre isn't worth a damn and hasn't been for years. Dom...he is till winning cups.

I agree with you 100% Puckloo

I'm pretty sure Favre was still good the last time Dom actually "WAS IN NET AND WINNING" for a SCF game. When was that again? 2002???

He would have been fine if he'd been allowed back in goal last playoffs. Prove to me that this is not the case.

I don't have to, the coach pulled him for the ENTIRE remainder of the playoffs. I'm PRETTY sure MB knows a little more about what is going on than we do in that particular case. MY proof would be if was up to the task, MB would have let him play. Don't give me s*** about Ozzy, everyone knew Hasek just didn't have that kind of post season netminding left in him. Otherwise...he would have been put back in.

Whatever you say. Ozzie was fine, I never said he wasn't. Where is Cujo nowadays, anyway?

edit: JMO, but this wasn't actually intended as a bashing thread, although there is a contingent here who simply can't resist. If those of you who get off on this could try to refrain, it would be nice, for a change.

Hasek is coming nowhere near the NHL again (thank God), so if you could leave it alone, those of us who did admire Hasek would enjoy that. <_<

well, if he's back in shape and IF he'll play backup for a million bucks or less, suit him up next year!! this cap crunch sure limits what Kenny can do in goal. I am not sold on Howard at all.

It's posts like these which make me so thankful that people who actually know about the game run our team...

1) it was YOU who said

He would have been fine if he'd been allowed back in goal last playoffs. Prove to me that this is not the case.
So I did PROVE that, lol. You should have probably
"left it alone"
before you made that statement eh?? Not sure who was
"bashing"
him, lol. Sorry Babcock recognized he wasn't good enough and pulled him before he cost us the cup last year, lol. You might want to vent your frustration to Mike?!?!

2) Where is Cujo??? Sorry I'm one of the few, if any, with the balls to actually keep my favorite players name after they leave the team, lol. Sorry I'm not a sellout who changes my forum handle every time we sign a new euro. I liked him before he was a wing, I still like him. Speaking of

"try to refrain"
maybe you should practice it as well eh?? I'm pretty sure that had nothing to do with the topic, so if you want to vent about my forum name just send me a PM and try to leave your personal jabs out of the thread??

3) I wasn't even

"bashing"
him, I just responded to someone who made a comparison between Dom and Favre. Sorry you took that as
"bashing"
.

:patriot:

 Don't worry about her, she follows the common trend on LGW of ignoring fact and being hypocritcal. Not worth your time.

Gosh. I'm crushed. You really told me, didn't you?

For those who don't want to waste time trying to make the case that one of the best to ever play somehow sucked while winning Cups in Detroit:

Hockey New article

Times article

Olympic bound?

The great goaltender Dominik Hasek, now 44, is coming out of retirement, but he won't be returning to the NHL. He's going to play for a Czech league.

Hasek had the 2010 Vancouver Olympics in mind when he said on Tuesday he was coming out of retirement, according to Reuters.

Check my screen name. It's never changed since I joined the forum as member 180, if I recall correctly. And I totally agree and admire that you support a player you like, even if others think he sucks.

OMG!! We're twins!

Have you ever argued without putting words in someones mouth? No one said Hasek sucked in 2002, NO ONE. Don't get defenseive when someone mentions the FACT that your idol was less then stellar his last couple years. He very well may be the best ever, I personally do not think he was, but you are free to your own opinion.

What can not be held as opinion is that Hasek played well in comparison to the average goaltender. He simply did not. Your sarcasm is neither biting, clever, well thought out, or relevant. If you really want to prove me wrong, please post the stats of all goalies of the 07-08 season and show me that Hasek was in the top 50% of any individual goaltender stats, then compare them to the mundane Chris Osgood stats in front of the same team.

People like you I'm sure Ezbak, eh?

The Glass Domino will have his work cut out for him next season, in the Czech league the top 10 of the 14 teams make the playoffs and Pardubice last season was 12th. Should be exciting.

Now I have to resort to name calling. You are just an idiot. YOU brought up Cujo,

 Where is Cujo nowadays, anyway?
as a jab because it's really the only thing you have to argue about. NO ONE, especially me, said Hasek sucked, said Hasek has never done anything, blah blah blah. For fuqs sake stop trying to create drama. My first post on this thread was another link to the story and a  for Hasek actually returning and never quitting. I realize he's not returning to the NHL, I posted the damn link (and read the story) BEFORE you even posted in this thread. No one pissing on Dom's legacy, just fuqin chill out and stop "CREATING" drama.

Oh and check this out, a quote from "YOUR BOY" himself...

Asked if he would have liked any of the goals back, he said, "All of them. Very disappointing. Last 60 minutes, worst hockey I've played in my life. I have nothing to say about it. I feel very bad about myself."

Sounds like he was really "on top of his s***" eh??? Wow, how weird anyone would say anything remotely negative. Why don't you go to his website and bash him since he put himself down?!?!

We still all like him, calm down, breathe, and think about what the voices say in your head before they tell you to make s*** up and get defensive.

Hasek was tied for 3rd in GAA, tied 1st in winning percentage of his games (19th in overall wins despite only having 40 decisions), and was tied for 6th in most shutouts. Compared to Vezina runner-up Evgeni Nabokov

GAA

...

Hasek 2.14

Nabokov 2.14

Save percentage

Hasek .902

Nabokov .910

Winning percentage

Hasek .675

Nabokov .613

Shutouts

Hasek 5

Nabokov 4

Not saying that Dominik should've been up for Vezina because he obviously didn't play enough games but his performance numbers are very comparable to a guy like Nabokov who was hailed in '08. In the Nashville series both Hasek and Osgood had had real strong seasons so it was known that the change would come real quick. Hasek had two fine games against Nash and then Game 3 got away at the end. Detroit pulled it together and there was no need for a change, really that's not saying much about whether it had to be one guy or the other, Detroit was a 2 goalie team that year, who cares? It's just too bad that people have such poor memories.

What's too bad is most people will just run him down for having a GAA of 4.03 and 6.77 in the last two games he played in that series. His sv% was also .857 and .786 in those two games. You get shelled that bad two games in a row and have a good backup, you are out. Too bad for him, I would like to have seen him between the pipes in those last few games to take the cup.
