daniel1 32 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 Luongo's .946 career playoff SV % suggests otherwise. His zero cups and crappy team in front of him would suggest otherwise.
yzefan 2 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 And you may recall a series we just finished that most experts also picked would go about 6 games. Come on honestly.... those so called experts get paid to make sh*t up.. you really think the are gonna go on the air and say "ya well... your sh*t out luck columbus and St Louis ... your gonna gone down in 4!! " If they did that they would be mobbed by the fans.. they only have to throw out a crap opinion to make the people who know diddly about hockey happy. " And how does that apply to me any more than it does to Torless up above. Take it up with him. I simply responded. His zero cups and crappy team in front of him would suggest otherwise. OMFG ROFLMAO!!!! (I've never used those acronyms before, but that seemed like the perfect place for it) Edited April 25, 2009 by One of the Few

Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 Series against the Ducks will be entertaining, looking forward to playing them. Agreed no matter who wins it should be awesome. And I get to see the wings again even though I will not be rooting for them always nice to see them in the SOcal.

And I get to see the wings again even though I will not be rooting for them always nice to see them in the SOcal. Totally. Teams will be more skillfully matched and the hockey itself will be exciting. One thing though, I will be pulling for the Wings. I see the Ducks/Wings the closest thing to a rivalry since the Wings/Avs deal a few years back. Who wouldn't love that right?
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 Luongo's .946 career playoff SV % suggests otherwise. That's fine- he's still leaving us 0.054% of our shots! Just get 60 shots on Luongo every night and we're fine
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 His zero cups and crappy team in front of him would suggest otherwise. You haven't seen many Vancouver games this year, have you? They're getting scoring from all their lines, hitting everything that moves and killing penalties like it's their favourite pastime. The only way to get through Vancouver is to shake Luongo or at least their confidence in Bobby Lu. When Luongo lets the first goal in or lets a softy in you can see it in the entire team in front of him... probably more so than any other team. Luongo is the heart of that team so killing them requires taking him out of the equation (easier said than done ). Given the offensive capabilities of the Wings, their unique playing style, their love of putting their shots through heavy traffic and the fact that they run a screen/crease-crasher in each of their top 3 lines... I'm confident we can win a 7 game series. Still... a super high end goalie can carry his team past opponents that are otherwise superior from the crease out. Hasek took the Sabres to the finals on his own, and while Luongo definitely isn't as good as vintage Dom, he's among the top 3 goalies in the league (and who knows what he's truly capable of at this point in his career). Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 Ducks-Wings would be a great series IMO, I'd take Detroit in 7..I see the winner cruising to the Finals vs. the Devs of course. We owe you one after you swept us in the finals last time.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 25, 2009 I am hoping Anaheim (Ducks fan here) so I can come to a game. I am from Cleveland so its nice to see my boys play! Quick question, do they ever have discount tix for playoff games? I saw they had some in Cbus and your Pistons tickets are as low as $12!!! jeez They usually do have discounts really, really close to game time to fill the odd empty seats. Given the economy you just can't count on sell outs in certain cities.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 I've read through some of the posts supporting versing Anaheim in the next round, and the only one that I can really justify is simply revenge for a couple years ago. In terms of knowing what it takes to win in the playoffs, Anaheim is the most dangerous team besides the Wings in the Western Conference, and possibly the entire league. They play a really gritty game that wears down the opponent, and while I'm confident the Wings can beat them, I get worried about the 3rd and 4th rounds and how fatigued our players may be after tangoing with the Ducks. In contrast, if San Jose wins, that means its a seven game series, and they're the subjects of 1st round fatigue. Should the Wings happen to play the Sharks, it'll be in the third round and after a tough 8 wins. The Wings can take the Sharks in the 3rd round a lot easier than the Ducks in the 2nd. Maybe I'm underestimating the Canucks, but the only thing intimidating about their team is Luongo, and if any offense in the league can beat him is the Wings; especially after warming up on Mason.
