Did anyone just hear the comment on VS about the Wings win?

The guy from VS did say that it was the right call, and a good call a that. I think you might have started to rage before he finished.

I think people are reading way too much into every comment anybody calling a game makes. I'm pretty sure the color man for VS in that series is the color man on the Dallas Stars broadcasts, and he is usually pretty good. If every color commentator said nothing with an opinion behind it, everyone would complain that the broadcast was boring no matter what station was showing any game in any sport.

The call was correct, but there was controversy based on the CBJ reaction. 2 weeks from now nobody is going to even remember that this happened.

And the Hockey God spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Hockey Stick. Then shalt thou count Five Players, no more, no less, unless thy sin bin be full. Five shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be Five. Six shalt thou not count unless thy net be empty, neither count thou Four, excepting that thou then proceed to Five. Seven is right out. Once the number Five, being the Fifth number, be reached, then playest thou thy Holy Hockey Game of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Hope everyone gets it!!

I did indeed, thank you for that wonderful interpretation!

Dang it, now I have to watch the movie.... :hehe:

or as it is known in it's original Latin form:

"Oderint Dum Metuant"

I love it, a quote by the Roman Emperor Caligula regarding the Red Wings!

You know, if this had been ancient Rome, the Wings--after massacring the Bluejackets--would have looted Columbus, enslaved all the women and burnt it to the ground. Ahh, too bad.

Is there anything worth looting?

I know, MEOW.....

Someone else mentioned this, if a BJ's player shot the puck over the glass and a penalty was called in the same situation, would it be controversial?

Controversial is when the puck hits the net and the players stop playing because they know it did and the opposition scores. Has happened 3 times the last 2 years.

Not to be the sematics police, but the disputation does not concern a matter of opinion. It's pure fact that Columbus had six skaters on the ice and pure fact that that's against the rules. If it's my opinion, as well as the opinion of several others, that the sky is green, that doesn't turn the color of the sky controversial. There's no dispute about opinion here - they just have an opinion blind to the facts.

But the opinion of the other side is that this particular call is often not made in the same situation so where you and I see it as a black and white call the others see it as being up to interpretation by the officials. If he was two feet closer to the boards would he have let it go? If he was hustling to bench instead of coasting?

I haven't seen any evidence of non calls in similar situations (also haven't looked), but that was the argument, and it is an opinion and the difference of opinion caused some controversy.

Columbus fans may have been angry about the call but that doesn't make it controversial. The only real argument I have heard from that side is yeah its a penalty but the refs had put their whistles away.

That is an automatic call the refs can't put the whistles away for that.

Here is what clinched the series and no one can argue with it.

0:00.00 Total time the Columbus Blue Jackets have lead in the playoffs.

To me the only thing controversial is whether the Jackets ("Jackets" here meaning Hitchcock, their announcers, plus any of their fans who think this way) should simply shut up, or shut the hell up. It's a fact that they had six skaters on the ice, it's a fact that that's illegal, and to the best of my knowledge and yours the referees never, ever let that go, unless they flat don't see it. They're just asking for special treatment is all. Just because somebody whines about it doesn't make it controversial. Would an icing call be controversial if the Jackets complained about it? It's black and white. Couldn't be any less controversial if you ask me.
