WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)

Props to Osgood on a good game, too bad that the reason Det tied it was mostly our own eff ups and not skill on Det's part.

Every fan says this about their team just like the grand conspiracy theory that the refs are out to eliminate your team.

Its also BS about 95% of the time.

That play was way ON-SIDE.

I agree that was on-sides and was a legit goal. But Refs were HORRIBLE in this game, so it's easy to not trust their 'judgement'.

Holmer was molested, grabbed and drug down by Neider in the 1st, Filppula took a high stick at 14:30 of the 2nd during the face-off... and the list goes on. I knew the Refs were going to be idiots this game... I just knew it.

This loss doesn't bother me. In fact, this is in DRWs favor, Ducks won't have legs to hang with the Wings down the stretch and Ducks won't always be so lucky with the non-calls.

Now all the pressure is on Disney Ducks to win at the Pond.. which they haven't done well at. Detroit is the better team and the better team will prevail

I thought game 3's winner would take the series in 2007, but didn't the Wings win game 3 and then lose the next game when Pronger was suspended? I think that's what happened. Regardless, yeah, the Wings need to win the next game.

Yes, unfortunately.

I mean, it obviously goes without saying that Game 3 is monumental. I'm going to be a ball of nerves. I was really coasting along pretty well this postseason, not really getting too high or too low. I'm feeling a little low right now. The Wings need to bounce back big time on Tuesday night. I hate those late West Coast playoff games. Ah, this is tough.

I have supreme faith in our guys, though. A little bump like this should hopefully get them going.

I'm not hanging Osgood out to dry here -- he was fantastic -- but that last goal, despite the placement, wasn't exactly the stuff of legend. Marchant didn't seem to get a lot on the shot. I'll have to bust out the Tivo but it seemed that Osgood didn't get a bead on it until late.

Ah, adversity... I've been expecting your call. Had to happen at some point.

True.

Didnt expect to go 16-0, but loosing in triple OT is a bad way to loose.

This hurts.

I'm trying to put it out of my mind, but the tought of losing to the Ducks in the playoffs again literally makes me sick. I still think we have this series but the Wings just made it a whole hell of a lot harder on themselves. There just wasn't enough jump or energy or charisma from them today. They are going to need to amp up their game in Anaheim or this thing could swing horribly out of control.

All my motivation to do anything the rest of the night is gone.

Detroit is 6-0 in the PO's (including last year). Did you expect them to sweep every team to the cup? Ducks singular top lines isn't going to hang with the Wings down the stretch... Depth will prevail.

Also, look at the Ducks home record... not too impressive.

This was a MUST WIN by the Ducks tonight, and they barely squeaked by a "W", even with the Refs were giving them the edge. Detroit is a Stanley Cup team, Ducks are wannabe posers

I think the ref was gross too. But I think that is how the Ducks play. They always play dirty and classless so making ref tired of calling penalty.

Like you, I am not being bothered by this defeat. We were plain better team from the 3rd period while the Ducks had only few scoring chances.

But before going to Anaheim, we have to fix our line combos. Our first line has been atrocious throughout the series against the Ducks.

What I am worrying about is that in 2007 series, we were also better team in game 2 and game 5 but the frustration maker like empty net goal allowance killed us at that time. I hope the same thing does not happen to us this year.

You're kidding right? Maybe he was a little slow after having played 5 periods of hockey.

It was a great shot. He played a great game. How can you not give him the benefit of the doubt after the game he played...

Just like your second goal wasn't based on your teams skill, as much as the refs hating the Wings.

I agree Detroit was the better team. We deserved to win this game. I am DEATHLY AFRAID of the refs at the POND because they are HISTORICALLY EFFING ATROCIOUS. (2nd only to the Saddledome).

Someone PM me some of your optimism.

You mean in 2007 when we didn't have Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart or Hossa?

Regardless of the outcome of this game; who wants to see a Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen line against the first Gettzlaf etc line, and then Hossa, Holmstrom, Helm line against the second Getz etc line?

Well, I got home just in time to watch the A-holes win it in the top of the 3rd OT. I even wore my Wings' tee under my choir robe for our concert and it didn't help.... :(

But I would love these two line combinations.

And meanwhile, we can hope that it is indeed a fact that the Duckies play worse at home.

Actually, Detroit brings an entirely new meaning of skill that Ducks know nothing about... This was a lucky win for the Ducks, I doubt the Ducks will have much more luck down the stretch... especially since your few 'skilled' guys will run out of gas.

Detroit in 6

I agree every part but not bold part. Every team has to be prepared to consider every game as a must win game. I think the Wings looked very lost in the 1st and 2nd period. It was really poor performance but we turned around in the 3rd period.

Besides, while I hate the Ducks most, their home record isn't any good as a regular season but no one knows what can happen in the playoff. However, we know the Wings are good road team so I have a faith on the Red Wings

Another upside to this series is we should be getting Draper and Rafalski back soon, Ducks meanwhile have no injured players missing time to expect back. Injecting a fresh top 3 point scoring defensemen and a playoff savvy, selke winning forward should give us a nice boost after this exhausting defeat.

Yup but we do not have to talk about that time again because both teams have gone different stories since that time. What I am concerning is about is not depth or other things.

Remember game 2 and game 5; two games we absolutely out-shoot the Ducks but empty netter killed us and took the momentum away from us. I hope the same thing does not happen this year.

If it helps, the series with the Sharks in 07 was tied going back to San Jose and look who came to be the winner out of that.

No offense, but these are not the Sharks.

They're a dirty scumbag team who will just keep hitting and cheap-shotting until they've taken out or damaged enough players to bring the skill level down to where they can compete.

Hopefully the guys can get at least one of the next two.
