You're on the phone and have to pee: Ask the person to hang on a minute, ask to call them back, or just go and hope they don't hear it? (Assume for the last one that you have a cordless phone.) If I don't care if they get spoiled and live a life of misery expecting things to go their way, I'll give in. If I am going to have future contact with them and I need to make them realize that they can not push me around, I hold fast (unless it is a very small, tired child who is having a complete meltdown in public- then I just get out).
