Rocket Queen 30 1 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 I have to agree with many of the people here...it may be awkward, but man up show some class and shake hands regardless of what had happened over the games. I remember when I was younger and played summer baseball, we had a three game series between another team, we lost all three , we were all mad and upset, but we shook hands. Our coaches also made us say "great games" to each player...Granted we were 7, but still. If 7 year olds can do that, why not 20-40 somethings? When I had found out about Brodeur not shaking Avery's hand I shook my head at his pettiness. Yeah I know Avery was giving him hell and doing really stupid things in front of him over and over and over, but still, he should have maned up shook his hand or at least said, "Good game you little jerk" Even Dino shook Lemieux's hand after Drapes had gotten his face smashed by him, and then we get the fun quote, "I can't believe I shook his hand!" But you know what...he did. Word!
Rocket Queen 30 1 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 what a bunch of cry babies, stop whining, win or lose its tradition So I guess you'll be here to offer your congratulations when the Wings win on Thursday? Zat right?
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 You always shake hands. It's a tradition worthy of respect and part of what makes hockey great. Warriors on ice battling with all they've got, but they show their honor by shaking hands after the battle. What Chelios did in 2007 sucked. I don't get where people are talking about the Ducks like they've been a goon squad. This is how playoff hockey looks, and the fact is it gets a whole lot rougher than this at times. I just see extreme homerism here. Nobody is complaining about Holmstrom's elbow to Wisniewski or the way Kronwall's skates leave the ice when he lays a hit. There's a give and take and both teams are hitting and playing physical and both have crossed the line at times.
HadThomasVokounOnFortSt 878 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 when the game ended last night i was thinking the same thing, because obviously these two teams hate each other, but its tradition, The guppies hate us as we hate them as well and at the end there was respect on both sides. Hey buddy, we will see you once we win game 7?
