Looking at those numbers, I am inclined to agree with your comparison. You've seen more of Bertuzzi than I, and then of course he was on Anaheim the following year, so they might be pretty comparable guys.

I guess where I see it is that Getzlaf plays like Joe Thornton--a big power-forward playmaker--with an Iginla edge. Bertuzzi was a much better scorer because he powered to the front of the net real well, but the main difference is that Bertuzzi was on an exceptional line in Vancouver, whereas Getzlaf has always been paired with pretty much just Perry.

Getzlaf is more of the start of the play than I remember Bertuzzi ever being. Much like a Thornton or Iginla.

However, I suspect you were comparing them in light of Bertuzzi's infamous incident and implying Getzlaf is a cheap-shot artist like Todd. (Who had been suspended prior to that incident; again, I don't believe Getz ever has been.) I don't know, maybe Getzlaf is eventually going to be seen as a cheap-shot player -- though he has Perry for that -- so I see him as more of just a legitimate powerhouse playmaker than someone like Bertuzzi.

But then again, stats don't lie, and God knows my perception don't count for s*** as far as hockey history goes.

Getz and Bert both have a mean streak and get frustrated fairly easily, for the worse. Bert was a beast back in his Vancouver days, then he just fell off the map. Getz is defensively better and Bert was a monster at getting puck in net. I remember back when we played Vancouver, and beat them is 6. Bert was a beast and Chelios and Fisher was better.

Getzlaf's dirtiness goes under the radar better because 1). they are a team full goons 2). they are expected to play like goons.

Getlaugh is a good player, but he has no dignity, and neither does Bertuzzi.

Alright, I see what you mean now, especially about the meanstreak. I can definitely see that. Getzlaf seems like a more complete guy than Bert does, like you mentioned, maybe akin to Nash but with that meanstreak.

I hadn't noticed him being particularly undercover dirty though. His team does that plenty around him. I have noticed that he takes really dumb penalties. Is that what you mean?

Either way, he's a good player. I'd love him in a Leafs uni.

I watched the entire thing on VS. There was no punches being given to Niedermeyer. It was Dats rubbing his glove on the side of his face.. which is pretty common when you get into those types of altercations. The elbow was WAY too excessive of a response. If you're going to try to convince us that the three-time Lady Byng winner and finalist again this year who, until last night, has never received a fighting major in his entire NHL career was actually PUSHING for a fight with Niedermeyer, you might want to get your head examined.

By the way, where can I pick up a pair of those orange and black glasses?

I know its sacrilege to say on this board, but it would help if Nciklas Lidstrom played like his old self. The reason the 2nd goal was scored last night was becuase Perry easily got behind Lidstrom and had all day to park himself in front of the net and get the tip.

Stepping out of denial, Lidstrom is showing his age more than he ever has in this series. He's still solid out there, but his skating is costing him. And Lilja - our best shutdown Dman in the season - is gone. We're lucky Stuart has stepped up his game.

Nick looks to show his age at this point I think. The thing is, he is still solid and he is not supposed to get a criticism solely because his skating gets slower ever than before, but still looks good. The 2nd goal was his fault because he did not cover Perry and let him to score all alone. However, the most disappointed D-Man is Kronwall. He has been doing nothing positive. He does not hit, he does not play good defensively; being totally a liability on both offensively and defensivley. I do not think Lilja costs us too much. It will be great if we still have him from the injury but we still have to figure it out.

I certainly didn't say that.. but it's amusing that you practically ignored my entire post and focused on that one section.

Being a Lady Byng finalist shows that you're generally more geared toward "gentlemanly" play. Datsyuk doesn't go out and cheap shot/drop the gloves. It's just not his game. So the fact that Niedermeyer got a little pissy about some facewashing and proceeded to kick the crap out of Datsyuk doesn't impress me in the slightest.

And my point with Rafalski - the dude is little, just off an injury, and - typically speaking - DOESN'T FIGHT. Holy cow, man... I could beat up Rafalski. There's no honor in that whatsoever.
