"East is a BEAST"

Hey guys let me start by congratulating the Wings for winning a terrific series! f*** YEA.

And....f*** the fairy!

Now drifting from that a bit, I don't know if any of you guys know about this guy named Daryl Dobber. I've been big in fantasy hockey for several years and I always go to www.dobberhockey.com for a second opinion. I was on the site yesterday and was shocked to read this statement from Dobber himself:

"How does Anaheim keep winning? No team has a worse fourth line than Carter-Green-Brown. Seriously - Carter is okay, but the other two aren't even NHLers. This should be a cakewalk for Detroit and the fact that they are having so much trouble only strengthens my belief that the East is a beast - Pittsburgh, Washington, Boston and yes even Carolina are all better than any team that the West has to offer, including Detroit."

What do you guys think? I mean I dont understand how someone can think Anahiem was a terrible team. We ran into a SUPER hot goalie and its not like their defense and forwards were bad. I've always thought of the East as super weak.

Anyone here have access to the West vs. East winning percentage this year? It was so obscenely onesided for the West that NHL.com had an article about it.

The word you're thinking of for East is Least.

WC teams won the last two cups, and pretty convincingly against the East as well. Anyway, anyone educated in hockey knows that the West is anything but a weak conference, and if anything, the Western Conference has proven that it has more depth and skill compared to the East (see: East vs West record).

As far as I was concerned Anaheim and Detroit were the best teams in the playoffs, and right now one of those teams is heading for the golf course. The west is much better than the east. Hell, I'm sure Nashville and Columbus could have put up a fight in the east. Just because the west has teams in non-traditional hockey markets (as the east does too) does not mean that those teams aren't very good. Also keep in mind that the east has a much more cakewalk traveling schedule. For example, the Bruins haven't even left their time in 2009 at all.

The stars may be in the east, but the teams are in the west.

so the ducks have a weak 4th line - big deal!!

defence wins championships and no-one has a better defence than the ducks. they also have the most dominant forward (getzlaf) and top line in hockey.

there is no doubt in my mind that they are the best team the wings will face in the playoffs. i am not saying that the wings cannot lose - far from it. but they won't meet a better team than the ducks IMO.
